So, reading SG-1 slash, I got sick of... I dunno, the small-mindedness of Jack/Daniel. For all the scope of the issues explored on the show, the slash seemed to focus on three themes:

- Jack and Daniel have sex due to off-world whammy
- Jack and Daniel are sleeping together and there are 'don't ask, don't tell' issues
- Jack and Daniel slowly develop a sexual relationship and deal with [insert name(s) here]'s issues about it

And then there's the fluff 'Jack and Daniel's Christmas' or 'Jack and Daniel go shopping.' The best of each version has a Stargate SG-1 plot, but, I dunno. How many times can you read a variation on the same story, over and over again.

Okay. I can read them thousands of times if they're believable and have hot sex.

But I decided to do something a little different anyway. )

I guess the point is to challenge the reader intellectually. Yes, even with Jack/Daniel. Jack's not stupid, you know.

I'm new to fandom, but with deepest regrets and apologies to [livejournal.com profile] mctabby, [livejournal.com profile] wikdsushi and [livejournal.com profile] tartanshell, I confess that I too have committed (Icarus takes a deep, remorseful breath)... Mary Sueage.

Although my stepfather's inability to fake a compliment (Quote: "Well. Ah. It's certainly... action-packed...") -- and the fact that PCs had not been invented yet -- spared you all the agony, I will for your edification recount the plot.

Or should I say "plot"?

The lead character's name is fortuitously lost in the mists of time, but we meet up with her during her gallant escape.

Yes. She has been on a planet (ship? spacestation? Location is actually a bit unclear) running through darkened metallic halls. She has been experimented upon, and for dastardly reasons unknown to all (including herself, her captors, the readers..) she has been given catsclaws and catseyes.

For some reason, her captors never considered these superpowers to be any threat to themselves. So when the mutations were complete, she (fanfare please) escaped! She slipped aboard a Freetrader vessel (what? You never read Andre Norton?), though it is also unclear exactly how she got there, how she knew where they were, where she was going... oh you get the idea.

Fortunately for her, a young Freetrader who bears a striking resemblance to the youthful Icarus' ideal guy (surprise, surprise) is the one who discovers her as a stowaway. He risks his career to help her... how exactly is sort of foggy, except that it involves hiding her in his *ahem* room.

Alas, this Mary Sue died a swift death at the hands of my stepfather's unwitting sarcasm.

*toothy embarrassed grin*

Help.

Kitty has fleas. Bad. We got him this stuff called Frontline. Followed the directions and put it on his shoulders today like you're supposed to.

For a bit he seemed to relax, and for about two hours his scratching went way down.

Now he's acting like the biting is worse than ever. He's scratching the top of his head and his chin and mouth, and he's been panicky, racing around.

Now he's panting and very unhappy, licking and scratching his extremities: face, legs, tail. It's really driving him nuts.

Is there anything we can do?

ETA: [livejournal.com profile] wildernessguru is going to give him a bath with a mild soap, in hopes that will get the immediate fleas off. I've told him to protect his eyes, mouth, ears, nose with petroleum jelly first.
