icarus: (Out Of Bounds 2)
*pant* *pant* Okay, my last three essays are done, including the one for my incomplete from last spring. Now I have just one more final next week.

I have this vague plan to more or less write a section a day between now and Christmas. Sound good?

You can get caught up here: Out Of Bounds.

Title: Out Of Bounds
Author: Icarus
Rating: NC-17
Pairing: John/Rodney
Summary: "Spending time in sub-human conditions with a recovering drug addict is sounding like less and less of a good idea."
A/N: Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] perfica for playing OOB beta badminton with me all these months. Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] libitina and [livejournal.com profile] roaringmice for inside intel and spywork at Skate America. Any similarities to my dad's cabin on Lake Kashabog is completely coincidental, of course.
Previously in Out Of Bounds: Known more for his jumps than his artistry, figure skater John Sheppard hires ex-skating champion and 'artiste' Rodney McKay to be his coach. As John recovers from his injury, Rodney discovers he might have a little problem. His solution? Get out of town.

I want to tell you (that means you) how great you all are.

When I'm whining and tearing my hair out about school, life, my miserable family ... you're all there with a pat on the back, a word of encouragement, large cans of spinach delivered by Sam Winchester -- it helps.

When I'm desperately seeking a beta on a fanfic, or an opinion on an essay ... you're all there, ready to help, to offer opinions and suggestions -- you're invaluable.

When I'm bored, or my mind freezes from overwork, or I'm just tired and procrastinating ... you're all there, posting away, telling your entertaining stories about your lives, about fandom. You offer stories, recs, reviews, meta -- and you're all so interesting.

Posting comments is agonizingly slow on dial-up so I lurk more than I reply, but I want to say how much I enjoy the voyeuristic thrill of glimpses into your lives, you're endless creativity -- you guys are really cool.

I know this is a bit superstitious and "New Age-y" of me, but deep down, I think my life improves just when you're pulling for me. I can't tell if it's an absurd illogical view of karma I have, or if it's just that you make me see things differently. But whatever it is -- you help.

So. I don't know what to do except to offer brownies ("brownies") and Christmas cookies ("cookies") and post stories and stuff, just to say thank you.

For finals entertainment, an incredible amount of distraction. While I bask in good news. :D

No, no, I'm not going to tell you.

One more final left. In the meantime, I'm watching Fight Club and distracting you.

I rarely write AUs but when I do, they're loooooooooong. I guess it's all that worldbuilding --

Beg Me For It. [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] Fandom: Harry Potter. Ron/Draco, Percy. NC-17.
~75,000 words. Wildly AU, dark, post-apocalyptic, Death Eaters won, action/adventure.

Out Of Bounds. Fandom: Stargate Atlantis. John/Rodney. NC-17.
~95,000 words so far. The opposite of the previous, sweet romance, figure skating AU.

Except when they're not --

Binary Roles. Fandom: Stargate SG-1. Jack/Daniel (sort of). NC-17.
This one is just... strange. And touching. But, definitely strange. It's sort of Daniel. But not really.

The only two three crossovers I've written --

Colony Atlantis. Fandom: Stargate SG-1/Stargate Atlantis. Jack/Daniel. R.
Stargate/Stargate crossovers barely count. But I've alwasy wanted to see Jack and Daniel in Atlantis.

Up From The Bowels Of The Earth. Fandom: Stargate Atlantis/Supernatural. Gen. PG-13.
And a quick, short, absurd crossover. But I had fun with this comment fic. Naturally Sam and Dean aren't easily fazed.

Ron As 'Q'. Fandom: Harry Potter/James Bond. Gen. PG-13.
Short drabble where Ron creates Auror gadgets. Um. Except they have a few bugs.

[Kink] [AUs and Crossovers] [Incest]

The comfort list: [Humor] [Romance] [Happy-place Porn] [Drabble amusement]
