I want it to be May 8th, now.

I just saw the 3rd Star Trek trailer. The first one just showed the ship. This gives you an idea of the action and plot and special effects and -- oh, oh, I want to see it now.

In other news, it's snowing today. In Seattle. On the Ides of March. I took video that I'll upload once I figure out how (again).

Three essays in two days. I can do this, right?

Unhappy that AIG just paid $165 million in bonuses out of taxpayer money -- to the very guys who did the credit swaps that got us into this mess?

Me, too.

I tracked down their email and let them know exactly what I thought of them. You can, too. Yes, you can.

The idea that they were contractually bound to pay these bonuses ... you know what? They were contractually bound to pay these bonuses out of their money. Not our money. If they can't pay those bonuses out of their non-existent profits, then they need to borrow it like they would have without the bailout. They cannot use bailout funds for bonuses.

Rep. Barney Frank wants to see if we can recover these bonuses from AIG, while Rep. McConnell has gone ape shit. I agree with his assessment. "Did they (AIG) enter into these contracts knowing full well that ... the taxpayers of the United States were going to be reimbursing their employees? Particularly employees who got them into this mess," McConnell said.

I also call bullshit that they didn't know they were in trouble in early 2008 when they made these agreements. The housing crisis was well underway at the beginning of 2008. They knew they were leveraged 35-to-1. They may not have admitted how serious the problem was, but they knew.

Indictments.

Why have we seen no indictments?

During the S&L scandal, the culprits were led off to jail. Why are we seeing no prison time now?

FYI, the Greek History class continues to be torture. I've yet another prompt that baby-steps the writer into writing exactly what the professor wants to hear.

But it's almost over. One 10-page essay, and it's over.

ETA: About halfway through that essay. Taking a break from it.

Enjoy the world's worst parallel parker. Hee. Okay, not parallel parking. But WG and I counted seven attempts.

Current pattern of work:

1 - Write two paragraphs of miserable Greek History essay.
2 - Two minutes of glassy-eyed internet escape.
3 - Write two more paragraphs of essay for control freak's micro-managed, poorly written essay prompt.
4 - Five minutes to eat chocolate.
5 - One paragraph of awful essay for the professor who attempts to control every word that leaks out of your pen...

I think you guys should at least enjoy some of my internet escape time.

For those of you who love Greek history... I love it, too. I just hate the fact that my professor is a terrible writer, doesn't know it, and attempts to force everyone to write like her.

My essays are good. If you give me enough rein, they can be very good, and fun for the professor to read.

Put me on a chokechain and the professor deserves what she gets. But I don't deserve to be penalized for it -- unless I go with my whim of including a two page Socratic dialogue between "Socrates" and "Hesiod." Which I'm tempted to do, just so I can at least enjoy the ride as my GPA sinks.
