So we can declare ourselves a BNF now?
I thought I already did that.
Oh well. Whoops. I guess instead, I'll un-declare myself a BNF.
That's it, I'm not BNF. Nobody reads this journal, nobody gives a damn about these stories, I'm unnoticed, invisible ...

Date: 2004-06-26 01:12 pm (UTC)The pen name's a bit of a debate. My dad insists that Icarus is established as a brand and therefore I shouldn't deviate from it (which makes me think that I should have thought of this when I started writing fanfic, but, really, I was only going to write the one story... ahem. It just got out of hand).
Others say there's no crossover between fandom and real writing, so go ahead and use a different name. And the debate circles. I'm going to give it to the end of the day, then shut my eyes and decide. :D
One thing I can't do is use my real name. I want to be able to separate writing and RL where I choose, and not have it tangled up in the rest of my life.

Date: 2004-06-30 03:22 pm (UTC)Meanwhile, I hope you've solved your pen name debate. I understand why you wouldn't want your RL and your fic life to collide. Sometimes you're better off without the crazy stalkers pawing through your garbage...
You would retain rights to your pen name; obviously you would still be able to list the work as a pub cred when speaking with agents/publishers. And it almost wouldn't matter because you wouldn't list fandom work to publishers and agents. The anthology on the other hand, being that it has to be your original characters, is something entirely separate from fandom and usable as a pub cred even if you use your fandom name. I'm all for the use of pen names, personally.
I bet you've solved this problem without any help from me, so I'll stop yammering on about it. :)
