How many weeks till I go back to school?

Got snapped at for putting something where I was told to put it by the boss. Got teased for picking up a cookie in the lunchroom (mildly). Set up a meeting on the day the boss wanted it - then she nixed it, she can't be there.

Oh. God. I remember now why I'm going back to school.

I hate secretarial work. And after 15 years, I should know by now.

Can it be? Another administrative assistant? Be still my heart. I thought I was one of the few. I'm temping too since I'm between jobs. And since my last full time position was such a nightmare it might be a while before I'll stick my toe back in *that* water. ;-)

yeah. your word boy and I are no longer together. simple reason - we love each other but I pushed him to decide what he wanted, me or some time by himself. I refused to just 'take a break' though, too much, too confusing. I like things clean cut when I can have them that way. Hurts that we are still comepletely in love though. And he is not sure he made the right decision. Okay - i'm rambling. Feel free to spork me.

*hugs you tightly*

The few.

The proud.
(Or at least desperately propping the shreds of our dignity up with reviews...)

The underemployed.

Yep. I'm one of the dime-a-dozen masses.

And my last permanent job was enough to make a lawyer salivate.

Excuse me while I say (uselessly) "man... oh man...."

I'd say that cured him of his vacilating.

What's your forgiveness timeframe, if he comes back within the next few days? Zero? You've got a week or forget it, bub? (Heh. Just realised this sounds like a return policy at a department store.)

Oh man....

Hell, with this bloke my forgiveness policy lasts until pretty much forever. If he wants to come back, I trust him enough to know he would have thought about it, and enough to give him 'due consideration' depending upon my circumstances at the time. We'll see, I guess, but I do not hold out much hope. He'll have a good stretch of free time when I'm in Brussels anyhow, and if by then he does not want to return, it will pretty much be over.

Its a pity though, we both know that if this was five years in the future, this would never have happened. That is the bit which really sucks.

*hugs you*

oh, I am also an Administrative Assistant. More like Baby Sitter, really. Also temping for now.

Icarus, I feel your pain.

Of course we're all temping. As soon as the economy gets bad, companies dump half their admins, so you're either a) doing the work of two, but thankful you have a job, or b) scratching for work. The last recession (funnily enough during the other Bush's tenure) I was in group a). This time....

The moment the economy picks up, watch the admin jobs appear like flowers in the spring.

oh, indeed!

Around here, things are starting to pick up. I can be picky about who I interview with, which is nice. I've received calls from pretty much everyone I've sent my resume to, where a year ago I was lucky to get a call back from a temping agency.

I am on a fairly decent (if boring) long term assigment right now. Part of what I was doing a few weeks ago was screening resumes for the perm person who will take my place (and I do NOT want to be that person). The resume you posted a day or two ago is better than about 99% of the resumes I've been seeing and I have seen a ton.

Maaaaannnnnnnnnnnnnnn...

*sighs*

I will write porn. *nods decisively*

By the way, the only reason I haven't reviewed your Orobourus fic is that life suddenly changed and I.. suddenly have no time to read. I'll be able to look at it over the weekend.

And you haven't even added:

"I know it's 5.29 and I've had all day to ask you this, but would you kindly type this letter, heat bind these contracts, make these illegible amendments, call these clients and lie about why I haven't returned their calls yet, and find the file whose name I've forgotten that dates from 1982 and is somewhere in the 400 boxes stacked in the basement. Urgent? I asked you. Of course it's urgent! Do you now know how important I am?!?!"

and also:

"Just because I am an ignorant cretin who if they ever came across a semi-colon would probably used it to clean out their ears DOES NOT GIVE YOU THE RIGHT TO EDIT MY PUNCTUATION!!!"

I feel your pain, sister!

You finish your course and get out there and manage stuff! I can't believe you're not the CEO of your own business already.

Don't fuss about the Ouroboros fic. Isolde liked it. Which made me happy. So you might too :D

Secretarial work isn't that bad sometimes, but its mostly the boss that makes everything horrendous.

Could I be added into the filter? I'm a inquisitive ho'. ;)

That is very heartening. Seattle's still pretty bad.

The resume you posted a day or two ago is better than about 99% of the resumes I've been seeing and I have seen a ton.

*sighs with relief* I'd like to do something other than secretarial work, but it's good to know I have it.
