As for that LJ Crush Meme: don't use your real passwords when you sign up for that thing. It will accept any password - I know this because I made one up.

Muse-wanted.com still hasn't taken down my site and hasn't responded to my requests that they do so. Bloody con-artists, trying to take people for money with fake "tech issues" that can't be caused by either an overload of MP3s or a double trojan. Yeah, and 24 hours after the "desperation" for money, suddenly they have enough for four months. Sure.

The little fuckers. I recommend you take your site down if you have it there.

ETA: Unsurprisingly, http://www.muse-wanted.com has been taken down. Scam's over it appears. I wonder how much she made in donations?

We'll never know.

ETA3: Comments, emails from people I don't know are being deleted unread. For those of you singing the praises of and_love: yes. Con artists are very charming people, aren't they? I have a tune for you: "Oh there's a suck-er, born every min-ute..." If and_love were legit, she'd be emailing everyone their passwords and giving people the chance to download their sites.

Muse-wanted. Um, yeah. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt where possible, but lending (not repaid) and donating money on previous occasions, I'm a bit pissed off that I can't even get an answer or my site taken down now. I'll manage elsewhere without the dramatics, thanks.

You, too? I know of other people who are stuck. Can't upload. Can't take their sites down. No response from Sabbie.

I didn't give any money, more because I just don't do over-the-internet transactions than anything else. But I smelled a rat when and_love/for_long asked me to post a call for donations. I was hard-pressed to think of a reason why we needed to ask 500 people for money when all she needed was $35. There was no way I could track her actual take.

It's been taken down, if you didn't know, Florida wa shit by a hurricane (well, two) this week, and unfortunetly, I was rammed into it and had to go under that evacuation thing.

A friend of mine lived her early years as a drug dealer and petty thief, with a few con-games thrown in. She went straight and can't believe now the paranoid stress levels she used to live at. Anyway, she channeled all that competitive energy into biathalons and applied for a job selling memberships at a health club. The owner asked, "What makes you think you can sell?"

She said, "I just know."

He pressed her, and finally she realised that the job was sunk anyway if she didn't tell him the truth, so she said, "Okay. I used to deal drugs -- and I was very successful at it! But I'm clean now, I didn't like what it was doing to my body and not knowing who to trust, etc. I want to live, thanks."

She got the job, and made $50,000 a year at it, no kidding. She said it was much easier. And she didn't have to worry about the cops.

This is the same girl, I am realizing, who told me she hated me but would host me out of the goodness of her heart... all in one sentence (and this was after we had been actual friends for months already).
