Percy and Niko timeline

1995 - At age 17, directly after leaving school, Niko is brought to London with his father, the Lithuanian ambassador. (Niko is two years younger than Percy.)
1995 - At age 19 (think I have this right) Percy falls in with Lucius Malfoy.
1995 - Percy attempts to "split up" with L. Malfoy after organising the Malfoy Christmas ball.
1996 - January, Percy is (a rather unsucessful) English tutor to Niko Molokov. They have an on again/off again friendship/relationship for several months while Percy is still officially with Lucius... sort of.
1996 - After Lucius' shocking arrest, Percy circulates on the periphery of the pure-blood "cocktail party" circuit in Fudge's wake. He avoids Niko, suspecting his DE ties.
1996 - Summer/Fall/Winter of that year, Niko undergoes extensive training among the DEs in preparation to take the Dark Mark.
1996 - Percy becomes aware he is involved with Death Eaters anyway (and that Fudge is at least implicated) when Lucius - an escaped criminal - casually turns up at a cocktail party and everyone looks the other way or laughs about it. Percy follows suit and looks the other way, then immerses himself in distractions. Lucius displays no interest in Percy. Percy and Niko renew their acquaintance during this time.
1996 - Niko takes the Dark Mark and begins actively working with the DEs.
1997 - Niko's only sibling, his younger brother, is killed under suspicious circumstances.
1998 - After the defeat of Voldemort, Percy repeatedly provides damning evidence for DEs who were already captured, evidence which he mysteriously "finds" while "cleaning." In a strange compromise, he refuses to be responsible for the capture of his former friends and won't provide this information in order to aid their capture. Manages to become unpopular with both sides.
1998 - After defeat of Voldemort, Niko's father -- complete with diplomatic immunity -- returns to Lithuania, furious with the world. Wisely, Niko does not go with him. Niko travels throughout Europe with renegade young DEs who have the vague idea they'll continue Voldemort's efforts and reunite the DEs.
1999 (?) - Months after Starkweather is installed as Minister, she carries out her campaign promise to "root out" corruption. At Moody's request, Percy is arrested and veritaserumed and illegally held for three days. Percy is suspended from the Ministry (at first without pay; then once the Clearwater lawyers were through with the Ministry, he is on paid "disability" due to his "ordeal and mistreatment").
1999 (?) - A trial four months later clears Percy of all charges (thank you, Penny and Mr Clearwater, Esq.).
1998-1999 - Over the next year after the defeat of Voldemort, Niko's dwindling band of DEs are picked off one by one for petty theft, vandalism, etc.
1999-2001 - Niko is arrested in Poland when it was his turn to steal food. His record as a DE is discovered. The British Ministry declines extradition and leaves Niko in the (far worse) Polish prison serving lesser charges, where he serves two years.
1999-2000ish - Next employee review six months later, Percy's performance is deemed Unsatisfactory due to excessive absences, and he's fired. A wrongful dismissal case is underway (and not doing well) when suddenly, without explanation, his firing is overturned and his employee record cleared from higher up (i.e., in desperation, Percy "cleaned" his desk again).
2000-2003 - Percy clings to his job as the Ministry attempts to force him to quit.
2001-2003 - Using his prison contacts and rep as a DE, Niko establishes himself as a contract killer. Niko returns home to live with his father.
October 2003 - Niko gets wind of possible renewed DE activity and - though cynical - returns to England in secret to check it out. He learns nothing, but sneaks into the Hogwarts Hallowe'en party and looks up Percy again, in costume. They begin quietly corresponding.
November 2003 - Percy gets promotion to the Unspeakables thanks to Lucius' machinations.
December 2003 - Percy flees to Lithuania after things go sour with Lucius, using every sick day and vacation day he hasn't taken over the last few years. He finds Niko's castle a shambles, Niko's father ill with dementia, and the castle finances a wreck.
January 2004 - Niko's father passes away, and Niko becomes the head of the Molokovs. Percy decides to stay with Niko to help; applies for transfer to Wizengamot.
February 2004 - Percy starts globe-trotting job with the Wizengamot.
June 2004 - Niko outs their relationship at Lucius' party. He defies all his father's alliances, implying the new Molokov is not bound by them.
ETA: corrected a few tenses.

Date: 2004-08-23 06:11 am (UTC)I remember following some of this when you were posting more heavily to the RPG (around the time Percy showed Ron a pensieve of the wrong sex scene).
How much of this is written out more explicitly (not NC17 explicit, but narrative beyond the timeline) and do you have links?

Date: 2004-08-23 11:40 am (UTC)Probably won't ever be, no, but it's fun to look over the timeline. There's a lot to mine in there, you're right. I mean, think of Niko's wild post-teenage Death Eaters? That alone... The contrast alone between Percy's staid, polished legal troubles and Niko scraping in the wilderness, plotting the regathering as the young DEs are gradually disillusioned.
When Percy returned to Niko's life, needing him, he must have been such a breath of fresh air. Such civility.
