Taking a break.

Okay. I wanted to do something that had no relevance to anything, that had no deadlines, no pressure... and no point.
So, in honour of Percy Weasley's birthday, I give you (ta-da!):
Percy Weasley's Astrology Chart
And yes, I spent my lunch hour interpreting a chart for a fictional character, why not?
Well. Do you want to hear what it says? (Or what I project onto it, which is virtually the same thing?)
Another of Icarus' intense little asides: Do I believe in this stuff? I think it's fun, but after developing a professional-level skill I decided that people take this fun little parlor-game too seriously (and if they're going to be that serious, they'd be better off seeing a professional counselor, which is what pro-level astrology really is).

Date: 2004-08-23 06:05 pm (UTC)And dude, I get you about the parlor game stuff. I've been interested in tarot for quite awhile, but I don't actually believe the cards are magical. Instead, I am interested in what comes to mind when I pull a card.

(And I've at least made up charts for my major characters, even if I haven't the vaguest idea what they mean!)

Date: 2004-08-23 11:08 pm (UTC)The date should be 22.8.1976 (hee, he's younger than me)
Time, I've made up a 02:14:48.
City, the closest was London, UK.
Houses, Placidus.
Percy is a Leo (like Harry) - just barely. His pride and his standing in the world is very important to him, and with Leo on the first house as well he's grown up in a very warm and loving family, was perhaps even spoiled a bit.
He has stodgy, disciplined Saturn in his first house (that of his early childhood) which means that he's quite serious and has to learn to develop a sense of humour; he has hardships to overcome from his early days, feels like he has the weight of the world on his shoulders.

Date: 2004-08-24 01:27 am (UTC)Here are my rough notes. (http://www.livejournal.com/users/icarusancalion/266608.html?thread=3146608#t3146608)
Aside from his ambition, he's such a gentle soul.

Date: 2004-08-23 11:30 pm (UTC)Hmmm. He has a knack for whatever the wizarding version of the stock market is. Oh! And he writes wonderful love letters. He's quite likely to correspond with someone as a secret admirer for a very long time before coming forward.
What an idea for a story. Percy writes gorgeous, articulate love letters to... whom? Someone usually unapproachable. Professor Snape?
Then he finally comes forward and surprises everyone.
*keeps checking out chart*

Date: 2004-08-24 12:35 am (UTC)He's tremendously opinionated and tell you exactly what he thinks, has an interest in politics and positions of power. ;) (There's news...) Quite a debator. But he's so very well-meaning, atruistic even, despite his tendency to show off, and will take sides in a cause he believes is right.
Ah. A little more about his love life. He's likely to correspond or keep his feelings secret because he's quite shy and fastidious and has a bit of an inferiority complex (sexually and socially). In his loneliness he will analyze his feelings thoroughly.
He's a good cook (several indicators of that), quite tidy, and spoils pets, lavishing affection on then he can't give to others.... ah. Yet another indicator of artistic, writing ability. He has a nice voice.
Looking further, there are even more indicators of shyness; his feelings are fragile and easily hurt -- he unfortunately has an excellent memory and collects slights (though he may imagine some), then withdraws and broods. How things "look" and others' opinions mean everything to him. There are many indications that he's one of those people who "pick up on" the political mood around him as if he has antennae.
He needs women to draw him out, and if he's queer, he's the sort that needs his "fag-hag" girlfriends. Lots of empathy for women and rather effeminate (ha, as if we didn't know that), and very close to his mother. He will be happiest if married.
And here we go again -- a clean sweep: yet another indication he's a good cook.
He has a tendency to try to live beyond his means for the sake of prestige. He's driven to succeed financially. Superfically knowledgeable (and has a brilliant mind) but he uses his breadth of knowledge to put on airs. He's liberal with his advice, though it may be of questionable value, though he means well.

Date: 2004-08-23 09:27 pm (UTC)So instead, I shall trash your LJ with it fwahaha.
Anyways.
I was thinking about Astrology.
And how the month you're born in is suppose to dictate your personality and etc.
And actually, I think it's rather scientific if you look at it from an earth angle instead of a star angle.
The first months/year of your life play a major part in your mental growth and personility, if you're a Nurture-Believer. So, it would stand to reason that if you're born in winter, your babyhood would be different from someone born in summer.
Winter babies are bundled up more, held tighter. Longer nights.
Summer babies are taken into the sun more. Brighter days.
Etc.
And those small elements that take place in your infancy are likely to play a major part in how you turn out.
So it's not the stars of the month that really dictate your future but the weather and season of the month.
The stars are just conviently more measureable and static than the clouds ;)
I haven't had a chance to discuss this theory with anyone. So it might have a few holes or whatever. But feel honored and free to ask for details/explanation or to just tell me I'm plain silly ;)

Notes: utter lack of self-confidence; kid stares at shoes because I'm female; thinks knowing the right 'kind' of girl will change this. Spends session working on kid's self-confidence, highlighting his abilities and successes with girls. "So you had lots of friends who were girls before age thirteen. So what changed?"

Date: 2004-08-24 03:12 pm (UTC)I am interested to see when Snape's birthday falls. If he ain't got a load of Capricorn in him, then I'll shave off all of my Hermione-like hair.
