I'm feeling sort of overwhelmed and Harry Potter saturated at the moment.
To give myself a chance to 'dry out' from my long HP binge, I'm reading SG-1 slash, and I wrote a teaser in comments the other day.
I haven't finished it yet -- I'm really swamped and
wildernessguru (who doesn't give a damn about Harry Potter but is a big fan of SG-1) had some suggestions that are getting in the way of the slash though he's dead right, but anyway, I'm posting it here to encourage myself to finish it, despite WG's tinkering.
Working title: Calisthenics
Slash: Jack/Daniel
Rating: to be NC-17
Context: early season 7, after Daniel's return from being "ascended" and subsequent memory loss.
Summary: Daniel stars to remember a, ah, challenge Jack set for himself. ;)
The lunchroom was filled with the usual clatter of silverware, and the scent of stale cleanser overlaid with the smell of overcooked canned food. Jack dropped his tray on the table and proceeded to attempt to identify just what it was he was eating.
Daniel followed more slowly, dazed. He peered deeply into his coffee, as if all the secrets of the universe could be found in a styrofoam cup, before finally taking a sip. His head jerked up a little, and he blinked, glancing around him. "I - I think I remember this place."
"Gee, that's a shame," Jack commiserated, stabbing into something vaguely green. "Of all the places to remember on base, this would be at the bottom of my list." He shook his head and poked at what looked like soggy macaroni and cheese, though there was no way to be sure. "I take it you remember the food, too."
"No. I mean, it's specific. I remember being in this room. I was sitting on a table - over there..."
"Sitting on the table?" Sam's eyebrows drew together as she threw Teal'c a puzzled look.
"Ah." Jack pointed his fork at Daniel, swallowing that last bite. "I'd, ah, ride that memory out before I go spilling anything. Just a suggestion."
"Sir," Sam interrupted Jack with an anxious expression, elbows to either side of her plate. "I think that we should encourage Daniel. No matter how trivial the memory might seem to us, it could trigger other memories. Sense memories, food, might stay with him longer than more complex thoughts and emotions." She leaned forward. "There's a reason these are the kinds of things we remember from our childhood."
"Yeah. Sense memories," Jack echoed. He leaned back in his chair, a beady eye trained on Daniel.
"I was just getting a jelly donut," Daniel continued, with a bit of his old defensiveness, "I don't know why that particular table is so important, but it is."
Jack had clearly given up on the mac and cheese and dropped his fork on his plate as he stood. He gave Daniel a meaningful look. "I'm just saying he might want to be careful, that's all."
But Daniel almost radiated concentration in the tension of his shoulders. He set down the cup and made a cutting gesture as he stared at the table. "I picked up the donut, and spilled some sugar down the front of my uniform -" Sam smiled fondly, but didn't say anything. "I brushed at it and then I -"
Daniel's jaw went slack and he blinked once, slowly, his eyes going out of focus with the memory. "I... oh." His face tipped up towards Jack in amazement.
"Yep," Jack patted his shoulder as he left. "You never know where these memory zaps will take you, eh, Danny?"
"Don't try to push it. I'm sure it'll come back to you." Sam reached across the table encouragingly. But Daniel simply stared after Jack, open-mouthed.

The team assembled in the elevator on the way to the 1300 briefing on PXR-261, which Jack had named the Planet of the Apes.
Sam rolled her eyes. "Simian intelligence is just unusually advanced there, sir."
"Yeah, you watch." Jack tapped the elevator button and folded his hands behind his back, rocking back on his heels. "We're gonna meet someone in a gladiator suit named Cornelius."
"I don't think that's what Cornelius wore," Daniel pointed out, frowning a bit as he stared up at the ceiling. He focused on the upper right corner and suddenly gave it a piercing stare. He blinked rapidly and shook his head as if to clear it.
Jack shot him a look. "So you remember little shit like that -- but you don't remember where the bathroom is?"
"I remember where the bathroom is," Daniel said.
"Yeah. After I showed you."
Daniel ignored this to stare at that corner again, and then glanced over furtively at Jack. He let out a breath, but his eyes kept returning to that spot.
There was a long moment of silence until the elevator bumped to a stop.
Jack smiled, beaming as he stretched his shoulders. "You're remembering the elevator now, aren't you?"
The doors slid open.
"Oh, now stop teasing him," Sam snorted in disgust, brushing past them into the echoing hall.
"Daniel Jackson did recall the elevator on a previous occasion, O'Neill."
"That's not what I meant."
They glanced back to find Daniel still stepping backward out of the elevator; he turned and glanced back at it in confusion. "So… that really happened?"
"You betcha."
"Not a false memory or a hallucination or…"
"Nope."
"Did what happen?"
Jack held the door for all of them. "Oh, oh nothing," he sing-songed, cheerfully aware that they couldn't pepper him with any more questions with the general waiting. Sam gave him a frustrated stare as she pulled up her chair, while T'ealc merely raised an eyebrow.
Daniel settled uncomfortably into the seat next to Jack and muttered to him under his breath, "You're insane."
Jack was insufferably pleased and smug. "Good to see your memory really is trickling back."

Yeah, I know - tease.
Just having some time off this afternoon makes a huge difference. I have so much to do so very early in the year, and I'm going to be working 15 hours a week while going to school full-time this year.
So much for writing Snape Manor for Namowrimo in November. *sighs*

And if you want to be realistic, they probably haven't had sex in every room of the SGC. But I'm willing to suspend disbelief. [g]

WG's grinning right now.

Ah. You are assuming that this is plural. That they have had sex in every room of the SGC. I mean, we are talking about a man with Special Forces training, good enough to be involved in Black Ops. I really must continue the story. (Icarus grins fiendishly.)
