Skyehawke down.
Jan. 8th, 2005 04:55 pmThe Skyehawke Archive is down, at least temporarily.
I am probably the last to learn this. The details are here
skyehawke (I think I got that right).
Since
cursive lost some final edited versions of her stories, I thought I'd offer my multiple archives list, since I post, oh, everywhere I can. As I was telling
cursive and
venivincere, and have mentioned to
heidi8 in the past, I consider posting stories to be marketing, and each archive to reach different markets.
The main archives I post/send submissions to:
Fanfiction.net (I load stories pre-Beta here) Don't sneer! This is good initial exposure, a great place to test out new ideas, and fans can cross fandoms easily here. Readers here are willing to try anything.
Fiction Alley You just have to post fics here. It's immense and the backbone of the HP Fanfiction world.
Ink-Stained Fingers(currently down for the same reason as Skyehawke) Been around a long, long time, and a lot of people click my site from there. I'm not sure if
dkwilliams is still running it, but anyway, I like the people there. Thank you,
dragon_light, for the corrected address.
Skyehawke Good all-around archive with quality fics, and I really like Tien Ru who first invited me to join.
I send my NC-17 stuff to:
The Restricted Section THE NC-17 archive, with some of the best steamy fic out there. And no, it's not all PWPs.
Adult Fanfiction.net This is a quick and dirty archive which used to get astounding traffic before it went down. It's moved and is a little quieter.
Other big archives:
PSA - The Potter Slash Archive (post fic to the Yahoo Group and hope for the best) I flipped when they wanted to post my stories there.
The Sugar Quill So clean it squeaks. It's hard to get in, they only accept new authors a few times a year, but once you're in, they have damned good betas, and it's a great place for Gen and Het stories. Consistently articulate reviewers, too.
Diagon Alley I'm having technical difficulties right now, but the original form of this site was my intro to all things HP. Accepts only complete stories.
Lesser-known multi-pairing archives:
Borgin & Burkes New Archive! So far Goblet's been great, and there are a lot of authors I like on board.
Noire Sensus A complicated, difficult to navigate archive, but I do have some stories here.
Kilnfiction Another one I've used rarely, but there was a pair of Australian students I corresponded with for a while who could only access this site because of school filters.
Specific pairing sites don't generate many reviews, but they tend to make your stories available for a long, long time. The ones I list reflect many of the pairings I write. If you know others - do tell!
Harry/Snape
Walking The Plank is no longer being updated but fear not, as there is now:
Detention! which houses the entire Walking The Plank archive, plus new stories.
Ron/Hermione
Checkmated Tight little community that is very active. Younger readers with strong opinions about their Ron.
All things Malfoy
Malfoy Manor (post fic to the Yahoo Group and hope for the best)
wickedelf has been swamped lately, but this is good stuff. She has taste.
Harry/Weasley
The Harry/Weasley Archive
honeycakehorse runs this, and I'm not sure where it stands now, but check with her.
Snape/Black
Thin Line
titti is one of the most dedicated archivists out there. Her archives have been updated regularly for years. I believe you can submit or post your stories to the respective Yahoo Groups.

Three Specific Pairings in one archive:
Etc hosts:
After Class - Harry/Snape
Beloved Enemies - Harry/Lucius
Canis Major - Harry/Sirius
Who could forget Bernice's Snape/Hagrid?
Sweet and Sour A shocking oversight on my part.
I've not submitted anything to these three, but I have beta'd for their fest authors.
That'll do for a start. I welcome more archives and more archive suggestions.
Big glaring omission: I know too few pairing-specific LJ communities and would like some input before I post a list that neglects most everyone.
I've a list of Yahoo Groups that I used to post to frequently, but most of them have died or have been replaced by LJ communities. If people are interested, I'll post them as well. The Veela, Inc Yahoo Group is certainly still active.

Date: 2005-01-09 05:31 am (UTC)Any idea why? The reason being is that I have my site currently hosted on slashcity now (though the main page is still the same).
