Percy needs approval so badly, and he doesn't ask questions when he should because he wants to look as though he knows everything already. He's the sort to carefully gauge his questions to impress people. Oh yeah, he's easily managed.

I didn't mention this in the story, but they got a little more than they bargained for. ;)
