In non-Astrological news: Site update!
Jan. 16th, 2005 11:03 amI was productive while LJ was down. Icarus Slash Fiction updates with lotsa neat stuff.
Guy Talk And The Tall Tale Behind It. The story notes requested long ago for Guy Talk.
Detailed recs - A Harry Potter Starter Kit. This is more than original starter kit, I've written reviews of about 30 stories. *whew*
A new HP writing essay - How To Avoid The WIP Meander.
And two Stargate stories are finally up -
Shy Guy NC-17. Very. Jack/Daniel.
An assignation. "Daniel took off his glasses and sank to his knees. One foot knocked against a bottle of bleach, while in front of him Jack shouldered between the clatter of a broom handle and some metal shelves."
A Solid Foundation PG-13, Jack/Daniel.
"What is there between you and Daniel?" Carter asks some personal questions. (Vignette set in season one.)
ETA: Fixed link to Guy Talk. Whoops.

Re: Yeah...
Date: 2005-01-17 02:46 am (UTC)I've decided on a new rule: all good authors are required to write at least 10 SG-1 fics. *nods for emphasis*
Yes indeed.

Date: 2005-01-16 11:26 pm (UTC)And the page had links for some good stories that I haven't read yet. *wipes drool from chin* You're marvelous.

Date: 2005-01-16 11:39 pm (UTC)May I offer you a tissue for the drool? I confess I'm curious which stories you haven't already read. I'm guessing Dien's Rain, but otherwise....

Date: 2005-01-17 02:12 am (UTC)No, I haven't read Dien's "Rain," but also most of the Percy stories were unknown to me. It's a pairing I'd been resisting, mostly because it makes me uncomfortable how well I understand how his mind works. Truly, I just squirm, reading many Percy fics. Snape, on the other hand, is always interesting to me, since I can hardly imagine being him. But if you recommend it (and esp. if Snape is the other partner), I'll try them.
I'd read almost every one of your kink stories. This says a lot about me, no doubt. The ones I didn't read (e.g., "In Thrall" or most of Amanuensis's work) are ones I really don't enjoy, since there's a limit to how far I can go along with non-con and d/s stories. The better written they are, the more I can't read them. I tried to deal with how I feel about those stories in my "Tragedy, H/C, and Catharsis" essay.
Some of the gen stories were new: "The Art of War" and "The Durmstrang Chronicles." And when I went to look them over briefly (before sorting them into my "to read" folder) I began to quiver: the first, according to the author's note, was inspired by the hands-down best Star Trek fan novel ever published (a book by John Ford which I had to buy twice, since I'd worn out my first copy), and the second is apparently going to make good use of the Central European setting. *sighs happily* My liking for German in hp stories has to be the rarest (and silliest) kink in the fandom.
And I hadn't read the "Circles of Power" series, although I had read her Lodger series. Can't understand how I missed her other set of stories.
Um, the link to the "Tao of Job" is not good (on my browser). Can you give me the URL?

Date: 2005-01-17 04:04 am (UTC)Why on earth didn't I read your stuff sooner? *is an idiot* You're fantastic! I knew you were a popular writer, of course, but...wow!
You nail teenage boys perfectly. "Guy Talk" and the Snape/Ron personals ad story had me giggling--and wincing on Ron's behalf--throughout, and the fantastic, very real closeness between Fred and George made me want to read more twincest or maybe even try my hand at writing it. Sorry for not reviewing in the proper places, but since my reaction is that everything I read was great, I'm being
a lazy wenchconcise and putting it all in one place.So...yes. *fangirls all over you* I love your stories! Is there anything of yours that you'd particularly recommend to read next?

Date: 2005-01-17 05:01 am (UTC)If it's the teenage boy story you like, oh, Skinny Dipping (http://www.icarus.slashcity.net/stories/skinnydipping.html), all the Primer to the Dark Arts (http://www.icarus.slashcity.net/stories/primer01.html) stories, there's Beg Me For It (http://www.icarus.slashcity.net/stories/begmeforit.html), but that may be darker than you like.
*is gleeful* This happened to me when I ran the Percyfest. All these people on my friendslist were such great writers, it knocked my socks off.
