I'm getting really frustrated with my lack of time for writing.

I've only written my shorter Jack/Daniel pieces because I haven't had time to spend on the longer pieces in my notes. (Okay, The Walls Of Jericho's longer, but it's going to be a while in beta. Because my betas don't have time either.)

Of course, that was the whole reason I started reading Stargate fanfiction: I had no time to be bunnied by Harry Potter and not being able to write the stories I had was driving me crazy. So Stargate I could just read and enjoy.

I just want to take this glass of water and smash it across the room. I won't, because I have self-discipline, but the visualization is so clear there should be glass shards everywhere.

I just missed the deadline for Ashton Press and I'm really depressed about it. I'm going to miss the deadline for Off The Record as well. Just because I've No. Time. To. Write.

[livejournal.com profile] wildernessguru says that once I get into the swing of my schedule it'll go better, and I've cut out all the other things we do together. He's willing to shut off the TV for a couple hours in the evenings which is the only time I have right now.

I've had writer's block, but I don't know if this is worse. Stories hammering to come out, and starving to death from lack of attention, dying on the vine as I watch because I haven't the time to write.

I'm going nuts.

You should turn that strong visualisation to something constructive. Visualise packing them away neatly (or, to continue your metaphor, picking them and preserving them) and when you have time, when you are ready, or at a time when you are badly blocked, take them out again.

I've a notebook filled with short scribbled ideas or phrases that trigger entire novel-lengths I just never had time to write while in school. For some, my exuberance has faded, and some just weren't worth consideration in the first place, but others I'm finally able to start tending to.

Hope this helps and I don't sound like a bad psychology textbook! :))

That's very helpful. Even better is the fact that my only class tomorrow was cancelled, so I get to write from 11:30 on! And I may even have a shorter AU story that can make the deadline.

Thank you all for all the good wishes! I'm sure this is why it's worked out.

Talk about something backfiring in a big way. Although if it wasn't for you I would still be oblivious to the lovely Stargate fanfiction.

It's pretty funny, isn't it? Instead of reducing the workload, I'm spread across two fandoms, ha. But the good part is I get to write Jack/Daniel, so hey.

Yep. He does.

He always is. It's his nature.

*collects happy thoughts in a jar* My morning class was cancelled for tomorrow, so I'll get to write in the afternoon. Good luck on the thesis, it sounds like it's going along nicely.

I've had this frustration and it totally sucks! I'm thinking of getting a little hand-held dictaphone to record the ideas that come when I'm driving, or making the long trek from the garage to the office, etc. That way they're safely recorded and I can retrieve them later. Maybe something like that would work for you?

Usually I have the notebook, but I've been just so busy it's more a matter of getting the stories down in my notes and not having time to write them at all. I kid you not, I have between 14-20 Stargate stories written in note form:

- Jack/Thor AU
- The Bet, Jack/Daniel humor
- Calisthenics, Jack/Daniel humor
- Daniel-As-TG (but still Daniel) AU, Jack/Daniel angst & drama novella
- On Maneuvers, Jack/Daniel NC-17 in park, humor
- Jack/Daniel relationship gets exposed, angst
- Daniel Tok'ra Het story
- Jack/Daniel nightclub, bathroom sex and denial, slightly dark
- Follow-up sex scene to Straight Across The Desert
- That spartan society AU, novel-length
- The Road Home, longer retirement fic, humor
- SGC Party fic, wacky NC-17
- Jack/Daniel in boat PWP
- Found out after the fact, Jack/Daniel
- Tin Men episode tag, angst/playful
- Urgo episode tag snippet
- Jack/Daniel wrestle for spoon in the kitchen snippet
- BlackOps!Jack, Gen novella
- Pillow Talk, Jack explains the real DADT to Daniel, short drama/angst
- Continuation of Sonic Boom

What's driving me nuts is having all these stories, and not having the time to write them. With Harry Potter, 90% of the story ideas I had, I wrote. There are only a handful I haven't written. With Stargate, because I'm working and going to school, only 10% of my story ideas are getting written.

At least I'll have some time to write tomorrow.
