Latest word this morning is that the Kraft phone folks are initially wary when told the call is about their sponsorship, then immensely relieved upon hearing the support, and are still asking people to spread the word because the nutjobs are winning. This entire thing is ridiculous on some level, but it's what we're all reduced to."

I certainly will, if Bob Kraft weren't my favorite guy before (he owns the world champion N.E. Patriots football team) he is now. He and his family are committed to many worthy causes, I hope they dig in and refuse to back down.

Excuse me. Does it occur to you that someone might disagree with you on the matter without being a "nutjob"? Thank you for that exemplary display of open-mindendness and Buddhist charity. If that is what it amounts to, I guess I'll stay Catholic for now.

For the record, I heartily disapprove of the notion of Gay Games, because any homosexual sportsperson who is any good is perfectly capable of matching him/herself against his/her equals in the Olympics and other competitions. Everyone knows the names of a few homosexual champions (I, for instance, never saw a woman tennis player who inspired me like Martina N.), and to insist on this sort of separatism is to deny the value of sports as fields of confrontation across borders and distinctions, where individual ability alone counts. The so-called Gay Games are a worthless display of separatism and lack of self-confidence, and belong with "separate but equal" as manifestations of pure prejudice. Congratulations on supporting separatism - did you know that, in Afrikaans, it translates as apartheid?

There is a certain difference, in that standards of black and white beauty can differ (although for that matter so do standards among so-called whites - how do you compare Pamela Prati - Google her, she is the standard of Latin beauty - with, say, Liv Ullmann?). The Gay Games have no reason to exist. As a Catholic, I do not approve of homosexual practice, but far less do I approve of separatism and introversion.

Thanks. As I said to Lillian above, this isn't random trolling. fpb said that she had "strong" opinions when she friended me. At the time I said that was fine, so long as the discussion remained cordial. She wasn't able to be cordial to ifyouweremine, so had to stop. Immediately.

Went ahead and emailed Kraft foods. I think it's interesting that they say a private organization that is open and welcoming shouldn't exist but that their private organizations should exist and be allowed to discriminate in hiring while still getting federal funding. Hypocrisy in Action.

Meh. Separatist would be to forbid gay people from entering the "normal" olympics and vs for straights in the gay olympics.

I hate sports but I don't see why you can't have more fun days to celebrate and have fun on?

Anyway, I think the Kraft thing is good, as I've read on several other posts, the poor phone people have been getting abuse all day long >.<
But someone also pointed out that one of the big tobacco companies have large stock in Kraft, soooo not everyone may want to support them wholeheartedly =) Though it's one thing to buy their food, another to call and hopefully cheer someone up

Kraft was bought by Phillip Morris a long time ago, but it does no harm to call and support their helping the Gay Games. The people at Kraft don't have this handy banning feature we've got on LJ.

Thanks for your help, by the way. I finally gave fpb a few more warnings about his behaviour, then looked it up in the FAQ last night.
