My answer to the rude reviewer.

Woke this morning to a review that read:

hey...

the first chapters were quite interesting but i lost it when i realized that the story is not yet done...sorry...

can u like finish it coz it really frustrates me to read a well-written fic without an ending...

so pls finish it already...


The response:

I don't know what to tell you. Reunion was begun in 2003 and is an
"update as I feel like it" story. So it's updated about once a year,
if that. Last year got three updates. So far there are none for 2005.

If you want to read completed WIPs read "Beg Me For It" or "Primer to
the Dark Arts." If you like Stargate, the completed WIP "The Walls Of
Jericho" should be posted sometime in the next week.

But I'll make you a deal. If you can talk Anna at www.witchfics.org into
updating her "update as she feels like it" Harry/Ron fic, "Moving
Pictures," I'll be more than happy to turn my attention to "Reunion"
in return. :)

...but since you seem to read fanfics from witchfics.org, too: I've been wondering about Clare's "A Higher Price". It's listed as WIP, but the last update is years ago. Do you know whether that story is abandoned, or whether Clare just takes a lot of time for updates?


The rude reviewer, seeesh. I guess manners are as difficult on the net as they are in real life. I think part of the problem is that (at least at ffn) very insistent cries for updates are considered as a compliment to the authour - "the story is so great, you must update or I'll kill you", something like that. As for me, when I'm desperate I usually resort to begging, and hope that it won't get on anybody's nerves. I think you found a very diplomatic reply, though.
