Um, I was thinkin' about your 'hmmm' comment in Sushi's last post.

Do I sense a sushi-a-thon? Maybe like a jog a thon... Sponsor people to write for a cause... like, ten cents to the fund for every page of orginal fiction they write, with a cap at 5 dollars a person? Bet we could send her there...

Just... I dunno, thowing something out.

Actually, that's a great idea.

In fact... that's a fantastic idea. Let me email her, because I've been working on something that might be helpful to a lot of fanfic writers who want to turn pro.

Recs are good too (new stuff from you is better). I kept ignoring my Buffy flisters, so I understand getting distracted by the Other Fandom Shiny.

Trust me: I feel their pain. A couple of weeks ago, we HP fans were where they're sitting, right now.

But I feel no guilt or shame. It's our canon's turn to get some high-grade Icarus attention, dammit. Stargate will still be there, when you're done processing HBP.

BTW, Sci-Fi channel showed 4 episodes of SG-1 last night. I watched them all, only because I love you and xochiquetzl. I was not impressed, really. But Xochi assured me afterwards that I had seen four of the worst episodes from their weakest season (the one where Jonas replaced Daniel). I found it easy to believe her: you and she could not possibly adore SG as you do, if that were a representative sampling.

Jonas was supposed to be some sort of intellectual, or at least very bright, I gather? And there were other "academics" in that show (including one who said he was a mtath professor at Yale)? Good God. I always feel annoyed when Hollywood hires actors to play intellectuals, whose enunciation, body language, facial expressions, and syntax betray that they didn't even finish college, let alone acquire an advanced degree, along with mastery of some discipline. It's hard to play an intellectual, if you're not reasonably bright youself, I think. That Jonas (and the pseudo academics) left a bad taste in my mouth.

But I could certainly see how many fans would find Jack attractive. He has a quirkly sense of humor, too. Now, I want to see a show that has him and Daniel, dammit.
