I want to correct this immediately. Turns out RS.org did some minor changes, but no rewrites.

I went to compare the changes at RS.org to my original files, to list exactly what had changed. I pulled the version I sent them, with the beta marks in it called: 'Death Eater Rock_Final.' Then I looked at the date. It was dated fully a month before I sent it in to the Boozefest. The real final is called 'Death Eater Rock_BoozefestFinal.'

The version I sent only had [livejournal.com profile] isiscolo's changes. Not [livejournal.com profile] tboy's, nor any of the sections I was unsatisfied with and rewrote myself before I sent it to CLS, none of CLS's changes or [livejournal.com profile] switchknife's comments.

Wow. My final version's a lot better than what I sent [livejournal.com profile] isiscolo. I see why I changed it. On the upside I'm glad to see that my final is better than the original.

RS.org did make some unsolicited minor changes in the first sentence, which is what panicked and freaked me out alerted me to look for more.

Hi there!

I just sent you an email about this issue. I will be online for a while if you want to send me the right version. I have to admit to being a bit confused, but will do what I can to fix the situation.

Hi, thanks!

I'm at work, so I'll have to send the appropriate version tonight. I really ought not to be on Livejournal right now, but I wanted to clear this up right away.

What happened is that I had an old 'Final' called 'Death Eater Rock_Final.' It included only the changes from the first Beta review. That's the one I sent RS.org. The actual final is called 'Death Eater Rock_BoozefestFinal.' I think I need to fix my naming conventions.

'Death Eater Rock' is known to be a cursed fic, and has been through the wringer. So far:

- I beat my head on the keyboard for a month trying to get Ron to do crazy things that he just didn't want to do.
- a beta and I went fusion over it.
- another beta tried to correct the drug scene, when it turned out she had *no* experience with drugs.
- a third beta, [livejournal.com profile] tboy, printed it at her old office and it went to the wrong printer. She cancelled the job, but found the first 7 pages in the hands of her new manager. Er. At least the blowjob wasn't in that scene?
- a beta forgot about doing a final review, until I whimpered only two days before the fest due-date.
- I left a copy of it at a temp assignment. I got my disk back, but I don't know if they looked at it.
- it compressed into a single block of text at www.skyehawke.net, and took them forever to fix because it's a 65-page story.
- I sent the wrong version of it to RS.org.

Welcome to the cursed fic, and happy Friday the 13th.

Me too, although I'm dying of embarrassment right now. Do you realize that I ripped my own writing and kicked up a huge fuss before I knew what happened? LOL! *hand slapped to forehead*

I'm going to post Morrie and Kissaki's responses, because they are so heartening, and exactly what a writer wants to hear when confronted with a situation like this.

awww... I think it's understandable that you reacted out of panic, and for a writer to be defensive over her work. The important thing is that you've made sure to correct impressions with everyone, and quickly.

Morri and Kissaki are sweeties, aren't they?
