Why am I on Dreamwidth?
I consider Dreamwidth to be an off-shoot of fandom's move towards independence from corporate profits. This is part of uploading our stories to the Archive Of Our Own. Part of participating in the Organization for Transformative Works. Part of participating in our fandom academic journal.
I didn't move when most of the Harry Potter fandom switched to IJ. That felt like a stopgap measure. But Dreamwidth ... this is ours, run by our own.
I will be maintaining a presence on LJ. I don't want to see fandom fragmented, with part on DW and part on LJ, and part who knows where else. But I will move with fandom as we migrate to Dreamwidth and I do believe that will happen.

Date: 2009-04-14 10:36 pm (UTC)Of course when AO3 is open for business, I'll be archiving everything I've done there, but this is going to be my home journal. This is going to be the one where I log in first each day. I hadn't even realized that until recently, but I've been unhappy with LJ for a long time and only stuck because too much of my fandom was still there.
Now, I'll just set up a few feeds for anyone or thing that doesn't shift to Dreamwidth.
