Wow, what a big apartment we have.
Apr. 16th, 2006 11:01 amIt's gone.
The tree is gone.
I came home the other day, and found WG had done all the grocery shopping. The floor was swept. Things were picked up and clean.
There was a new box of 40 gallon garbage bags by the tree.
Now I didn't want to get my hopes up.
He cooked a lovely marinated chicken dinner, with a tossed salad, and we ate at the table for once. With a candle lit no less.
Then after dinner... he wandered in the direction of the tree. It was too much to ask. No, he couldn't. It was 10pm.
"Honey, could you get the tree stand off this thing?"
Okay, I could have predicted that the tree removal was going to be a group project but at that point-? Sure, I dug around under picky dead pine needles and helped stuff it into bags -- and I had to rescue the tree stand from a man who thinks force is the answer to every mechanical problem -- but, swathed in black garbage bags, I watched the tree go.
He came back and gloated, "One of the neighbors was at the door but she had no clue what I was carrying."
Of course, three days later the tree's still in his car. But details.
Wow. You know... the livingroom's pretty big. And I think I need a plant for that corner.

Date: 2006-04-16 07:44 pm (UTC)And about aspidistra, since I only know it's Finnish name (tuonenkielo), here's the shortest link I found:

Date: 2006-04-17 12:02 am (UTC)And it's within at least BBC/Jeremy Brett SH canon to shout in an indignant tone, "MRS. HUDSON, HOW DARE YOU TAKE MY ASPIDISTRA?"
At which point WG says, "I do dare."
See? Fannish plants!

I'm afraid WG would say, "I do dare take that apid--aspith--apididitra!" And then look at us blankly as we crack up. "What?"

Date: 2006-04-17 03:08 pm (UTC)I think we spell that attachment L-A-Z-Y. ;) But he has to watch the tree burn.

Date: 2006-04-16 10:16 pm (UTC)Oh, and in my experience, every man thinks force is the answer to mechanical problems.

Date: 2006-04-17 03:10 pm (UTC)Much sooner than I expected, to tell the truth. Now. How long do you think it'll be in the car? I'm taking bets.
