Scare yesterday.

[livejournal.com profile] wildernessguru's mom went back in the hospital. So far they've ruled out the worst possibilities and don't know what it could be, except maybe the stress of moving her, a delay in her medications, plus the new place. I think it's partially the fact that they won't let her husband stay with her (that's just fucking wrong).

Lots of phone calls. WG's doing fine, calm and relaxed.

Missed classes yesterday. Hopelessly behind in school.

Well that's crap.

Incidentally, why won't they let her husband stay? I mean, that's got to have major therapuetic value.

The hospital lets him stay overnight, but the Assisted Living program doesn't. And I don't know. Maybe I'm cynical, but I guess they only want the people who are paying for the care to be sleeping there, though they probably have some reason like "we don't have his medical information" blah, blah, blah.

Yeah, if I ever find myself in the hospital for more than a day again? I'm going to refuse some kinds of medical advice. One such is the "no visitors" rule, if someone tries to impose one. I mostly don't like having lots of people around, but having the option removed made me crazy.

I think I think it's pretty standsrd to let a spouse stay, except sometimes when there's not a legal marriage (I'm not approving of that exception, I'm just sayin'), or when the room has to be kept super carefully clean, unless the patient actually expresses wishes to the contrary. That's weird.

The hospital allows him to stay, but the Assisted Living program does not allow him to stay overnight (I don't get it either). She had the trouble the first night she was staying there.

I don't know WG, but I'm sorry to hear about the troubles. I hate stoopid medical people making rules, because you know it isn't for any medical reason. It's for some dippy bean-counter.

Oh hi, Cats, it's been a long time.

Thank you, yeah, there's no doubt in my mind it's the bean-counters at work. This place doesn't administer medication either, you've gotta do your own.

Going through what you are is just awful (been there). Is there anyway school would let drop and pick up next semester without penalty?
