Well, that's odd.

My Fic-a-thon assignment turned out to be complete and utter Gen. A Jack and Daniel friendship fic.

Huh.

I really wanted to write slash. I intended to write slash. But the challenge was something that I'd done quite often and, okay, I guess I wanted to a different take on the theme. But it was supposed to be slash, too.

I suppose if you squinted really hard you could call it slash. And it's due tomorrow, so, okay. That's what we have. ~3,700 words of Jack/Daniel Gen.

Funny that. Maybe I can... turn it into slash. Or squint real hard for the slash. Oh boy. I hope she likes it.

Now... back to Out Of Bounds. Outline for the next part is done, 670 words written... do I describe the Schmidt Center in detail or is that level of detail distracting? *chews pencil*

Well, Greensilver just posted the names, so now I know that you're writing for mememe, and I say, damnit!

...give me a significant glance, and I'm fine -- I'm used to finding slash in all kinds of strange places.

Can't wait to see it (which isn't a hint -- I haven't finished mine yet, either).

*bounces* Just got it back from my beta, the illustrious Alli. I've sent my edits. I'm watching all the stories accumulate in the Ficathon. Ohboyohboyohboy, why don't I do more challenges? This is fun.

Okay, I hope you like it, despite my failure to bring on the slash:

Hey, I was reading back on your lj a little and... you're local aren't you? I'm on Cap hill, right where all the gay bars are: Thumpers, the Men's Room [sic]. We oughta go for coffee or somethin' someday.

Have you heard the latest in the HP fandom? I know you've been the victim of some serious trolls in the past, both distant and recent.

Yes. I thought you would know, but you're also very busy and heavily involved with another fandom....

Heh. I thought of you immediately when an anonymous poster said something to the effect of 'who knows how many people she trolled?'

Heh. I usually have a fair idea who my trolls are based on when they show up and what they say.

What makes me squint at the wank report is the hint of [livejournal.com profile] heidi8-bashing (though I guess that's a popular F_Wer sport) and the occasional praise for [livejournal.com profile] msscribe's mad manipulation skillz. That, and the part of me that wonders why devote such an effort to chronicle this? I mean, this is a hell of a lot of work. The F_Wers as I understand it do a gleefully superficial report, point and laugh, and move on.

The very thing that makes it such a great report -- the journalistic style, the attention to detail -- leaves an aftertaste that makes me go hmmm. But I've only managed the first two pages. I couldn't take any more than that.

Heh, I didn't bother delving into the comments. There was a bit of splooge, but the ripple effect through the fandom caused by her actions is likely neverending. It's nice to trace a lot of the drama that buried some, martyred some, and entertained and/or annoyed everyone else.

She's the fandom Hitler, it seems. *shrug* I don't care, really, it's just kind of interesting. Sociologically, I mean.

[livejournal.com profile] sharp_tongue tells me that in chapter ten charlottelennox explains this started as a curiosity and just grew. I've had experience trying to expose a con (that whole Muse Wanted mess) and it's always met with skepticism.

It's incredible. I get this picture that most of the wanks are just normal personality conflicts, and then there's this Hindenberg wanker floating through the HP Fandom, causing chaos.

Yes, it takes a lot to finally convince people. I'm reminded of the child molesters and murderers whose family stands behind the accused, yelling at the victims' families, marrying them so they won't be forced to testify.

Ted Bundy, what?

There are still people today who are in denial about Hitler, about any of the serial killers you could name, David Koresh...it's endless. I won't even get started about the latest Hitler-esque figure in modern culture.

At least some are willing to face the hard facts, like Heidi.
