Fandom-y
Harry Potter and Percyness:
Yesterday one of my Percy Fic-A-Thon writers needed to change her nom-de-plume for family-avoidance purposes, so I figured out a few things about the eFiction and the Percyness site. Such as, oh, how to delete an account (hush, I didn't know that).
Then I discovered that people were being forced to sign up to leave reviews, and this had the side effect of creating dummy accounts listed as "authors." So, I allowed anonymous reviews, and then let the unoccupied accounts know that if they were planning to add a Percy story, now's the time.
Then I heard from another author that she'd never received her password and discovered, oh hey, I'd never released any of the Percy Fic-A-Thon passwords. So those have been sent and we should know soon enough if the emails are all old. *prepares for bounce messages*
The decision is made on how to handle the Percyness archive: I've changed the rules to require that stories be beta-read and in proper (readable) format. I will, however, not screen for content or quality. The Percyness Archive reflects the Percy fandom at large and not my own personal tastes. I'm considering adding a "Percy's Bookshelf" that would act as a rec-list for the site, but I need to learn a little more about PHP first. It would replace the "Featured Stories" with a permanent list.
That done, I've all but finished clearing out the queue of stories on hold during the decision-making process and, well, school.
Stargate SG-1 and First Time A Soldier, which has been added to my website. Actually, I did it a while ago but forgot to mention it.
Stargate: Atlantis and works-in-progress:
I pestered
lizardspots in chat (spin the wheel!) as to which story to work on, the "John-Screws-Up" story, or the skating!fic, and she said, "John Screws Up." So that one is humming along, and I rather like it. It's definitely going to need more beta-reviewing than most of my stuff because I didn't expect John's sex life to turn up all over the story.
In the meantime, the skating!fic has leapt ahead to other scenes from Rodney's past Olympic experience and I can't wait to get to them. Did I mention teenage Rodney is adorable? (And deserves to be grounded.)
I drove WG nuts with the next scene last night, because John and Rodney were [blank] and I didn't know why. So I asked WG for ideas. None of them worked. Then I shut my eyes and let all thoughts slide from my mind except that scene, staying with it. And the reason they were there appeared. So an update to the skating fic is coming soon.
