Does anyone have a copy of YousenditGet (aka YSIGet)?

I used to have it, but it's gone, and apparently Yousendit.com doesn't offer it any more. I've googled for it with no luck. I'm downloading the latest SGA ep on a dial-up and am almost certain to be cut off part-way.

Here's everything in my YSIGet folder; I assume that something in here is the executable to install the thing, but you'll have to figure that part out yourself because I am Without Clue when it comes to this sort of thing.

It's a small zip file, only 191K.

Would it be excessive of me to say "I love you!" Because that was the first thought that came to mind. That and smothering you with kisses. *smooches in an uncharacteristic fashion*

Hee! I am perfectly okay with that response.

If only it were always this easy to make people happy. *g*

I'd recommend you go to www.download.com and pick up 'free download manager'. It handles yousendit files great, PLUS it allows you to download password files and to schedule your files to download at different times, and all sorts of things that YSIG doesn't. It's also only about 1.4 megs in size.

Cool. *g* It's only going to take 19 hours to download No Man's Land, but hey, you know what that's like. (I haven't told WG how long it's gonna take yet, but he's as hooked as I am even if he won't admit it.)

Hey, I was surprised how much I liked Joe Flannigan as a bad guy in that Bat Man rip-off, Bird Of Prey. His nice-guy attitude really makes for a bad guy that makes you queasy.

Oh, BOP was such a bad show... He tried, he really tried...

He's a great bad guy in the CSI ep, too!

I think my fav. other show of his is First Monday - he's lovely as the queer Julian Lodge.

There was nothing that could save that show besides a bowl of popcorn and a sense of comic book glee.

First Monday is next on the list. I have been really looking forward to Julian.

Something went wonky on that CSI Miami ep and it wouldn't play for me, just froze and skipped. *scowls at codecs*

What about Mutant Joe from BOP and Mutant David from Mutanx X? Slash pairing made in heaven!

"Hey, I can make fire boogers drip from my fingertips!"
"AAAAAAAARGH THE PAIN THE PAIN ARGGHH KILL KILL KILL"
"Hmm... try some drugs. I make nice drugs. You'll like my drugs."
"AARRGHH... oh... I feel... funny..."
"Did you check out my fire boogers?"
"I really really like you ... fire booger guy... Mmmmm drugs..."

Oh, I meant to say, I could probably email the CSI thing to you - if that won't take a week to download? It's pretty small.

I second [livejournal.com profile] iibnf's recommendation of Free Download Manager. I've known people to get viruses via YSIGET and it's only good for YSI. Free DL Manager also increases the speed of many, many sites. I've gotten speeds as high as 650kbs. (I was shocked, too!!)

I'm going to try it again first, because I'm stubborn like that.

Oh, bugger. YSIGet just lost the 6% of No Man's Land I'd downloaded so I had to start all over. As soon as this d/l is done I'm going to get that Free Download Manager, darn it.

Here is the YSIGet 0.99c.exe file, if you still need it. It's teeny tiny (248kb), so shouldn't be a prblem to grab it. I feel your dial up woes. Currently SG1 is at 22% for me. Maybe I should try the managers the others have suggested too.

Just to let you know, in the future, if you need the file cut down to more manageable parts on YSI, I download both SG1 and SGA, and can put them into self-executing rar files for you. (You don't have to download any program, just click the exe file when you have all parts, and it will put it back together for you. I can dismantle it into 25-50 mb parts, if that makes it easier for you (at least in the future), and put them on YSI.

*dies of miserable frustration*

I don't know why but with both YSIGet and Free Download Manager instead of resuming the broken downloads I have now had YSI restart the download -- this is the fourth time in the last 8 hours of trying.

I get as far as 6%, my dial-up service cuts out, and then, for reasons I can't fathom, both download managers treat the YSI file as if it's a new download. I don't know why.

I have no idea how much bandwidth I've just wasted, though thank god this is a YSI file and not someone's personal site.

Have you done the self-executing rar file for people? Because I would really appreciate it. *turns into a puddle of exhausted goo*

Oh. Free Download Manager is starting part 3 of the d/l, so maybe I spoke too soon. *holds breath*

Thanks. So far I've only two parts at... 6% each? Free Download Manager seems to be working better than YSIGet. I think. Though I'm still not sure if this is going to work or not.

I can do them. I do them all the time to split the file for sendspace. It's no trouble. How big do the files get before you time out, so they're not too big? I don't mind at all. :)

I do, and thank you. Turns out it did restart from the beginning and the sections were all from this morning when my dial-up cut out several times in a row. So after trying for the last eight hours, I've only 5% downloaded, all from this morning. *head in hands*

There doesn't seem to be a point where it maxes out, really. But I've downloaded files at about 50 Megs without problem in the past. Using YSIGet and cursing a bit I was once able to d/l a 100 Meg file.

It times out at 43 Megs.

Okay. Advice.

My dial-up connection keeps cutting out. If I'm not sitting at the computer to catch it, it runs through multiple attempts to connect and then Free Download Manager stops the download.

When I try to resume (using shift + R), it #$#@#% erases what I had and starts over again.

It has done this five times now in the last 8 hours and my frustration cannot be printed in a family newspaper. I don't get it. Isn't the whole point of a download manager to pick up from where you left off? YSIGet does the same thing.

Okay, then I'll do them at about 30. Is YSI the one that works best for you?

I'm really, really, really frustrated at this point. 8 hours of messing with Free Download Manager and instead of resuming, it starts over from scratch, erasing what was downloaded before. I'm using shift + R when my dial-up cuts me off, just like I'm supposed to. What's wrong?

So far I've gotten:

6%
6%
10%
13%
etc.

Free Download Manager may need to have its settings changed. I can't remember the exact steps, but I think the default is 'start again' when it finds a file with the same name, but you can change that to 'resume' so that it picks up where it left off. That's somewhere in the download settings.

Also, I'd advice trying a non-yousendit file. The ones amireal and others have put up are direct downloads from their own privately hosted sites that you can get without yousendit. Although yousendit is very nifty in some ways, it doesn't always support restarting and stuff.
