Does anyone have a copy of YousenditGet (aka YSIGet)?

I used to have it, but it's gone, and apparently Yousendit.com doesn't offer it any more. I've googled for it with no luck. I'm downloading the latest SGA ep on a dial-up and am almost certain to be cut off part-way.

Oh, I meant to say, I could probably email the CSI thing to you - if that won't take a week to download? It's pretty small.

Oh, bugger. YSIGet just lost the 6% of No Man's Land I'd downloaded so I had to start all over. As soon as this d/l is done I'm going to get that Free Download Manager, darn it.

Okay. Advice.

My dial-up connection keeps cutting out. If I'm not sitting at the computer to catch it, it runs through multiple attempts to connect and then Free Download Manager stops the download.

When I try to resume (using shift + R), it #$#@#% erases what I had and starts over again.

It has done this five times now in the last 8 hours and my frustration cannot be printed in a family newspaper. I don't get it. Isn't the whole point of a download manager to pick up from where you left off? YSIGet does the same thing.

Free Download Manager may need to have its settings changed. I can't remember the exact steps, but I think the default is 'start again' when it finds a file with the same name, but you can change that to 'resume' so that it picks up where it left off. That's somewhere in the download settings.

Also, I'd advice trying a non-yousendit file. The ones amireal and others have put up are direct downloads from their own privately hosted sites that you can get without yousendit. Although yousendit is very nifty in some ways, it doesn't always support restarting and stuff.

Aha. It's under Options / Advanced / Miscellaneous -- "if file already exists" = select "Resume."

nufaciel is uploading it as an executable multi-part rar file in 30 Meg sections. Downloading it from isiscolo also would be a good idea, but I knew I was going to have problems (52K dial-up? Oh yeah.) and wanted to work out the bugs before I started wolfing down bandwidth, you know, at the rate I've been going through it. YSI there's no bandwidth issue, and as long as you're resuming a broken d/l, you aren't gobbling up someone else's shot at a d/l.

I think I hurt my hand punching the couch (there was a box of CDs under the blanket - owwww...). Didn't I, like, just put up a post about Buddhism and, you know, what a bad idea anger is? *rolls eyes*

So was it set to resume? That's all I can think of off the top of my head... but it's 3.30 am and I just took some sleeping pills and headache pills and pain pills because I like totally suck right now, and if I'm missing any other ideas then I excuse myself for being stupid.

I think that karma can be excused when NEW RODNEY STUFF is being witheld! The horror, the horror! (All I know of karma I know from Apu Nahasapemapetalan and Homer's responses to same - "Karma can only be apportioned by the cosmos!")

No -- your solution was dead on. I just was pleased with myself that I'd figured it out at the same time you didn.

I originally had it set to "rename." But it's set on "resume" now, and one dial-up cut-out under my belt already, it's working like a champ.

It seems kind of an obvious thing to be hidden under three layers and 'advanced' because surely that's something you need to decide on pretty quickly? Other than that, it's a good program, honestly...

It is. And it's working great. I just -- man, after wrestling with YSIGet for a few hours, then downloading then, then falling asleep on the couch and waking up to find it had shut off, then patiently starting it again -- only to realize that I should have used Resume, so clicking resume and having the same result, and then having it click along nicely all the way to 13%, leaving it for a second, only to come back and find the connection severed (again) and the FDM desperately trying to connect -- missing that by a fraction (augh) and then clicking Resume again...

... only to start at zero. Again.

It's electronic. Needs a hammer.
