Harry's punishment from Umbridge is similar to a scene in Kafka's The Penal Colony? Hmm.

'Beg Me For It' news. Well, I promised the next installment to my Beta today, but I've hit a snag in one scene. Almost there though.

You know, I find it very amusing, and a little scary, that I just read that particular scene from "The Penal Colony" in an essay collection about tattoos.

And I thought about OotP and the Um-bitch while I was reading it. I'm kinda spooked, and also impressed by Rowlings ever-widening literary inspirations (if it wasn't just an accident.) =)

Interesting, I really have to read 'The Penal Colony,' I tend to avoid anything dark (and that's kept Kafka off my reading list for sure) but now I'm facinated.

Nah, I doubt it's an accident. She's a teacher, so...
