I've done one of my sweeps through my flist back through this past January, getting rid of dead journals, unfriending those who've unfriended me, etc.

I don't do f-list cuts.

So if you still exist and have me friended you should not have been unfriended. Sometimes people delete their journals for a time and come back, but on Joule it looks like you unfriended me six months ago. I might miss your return because I do this so late.

I'm locking personal content due to too much crossover between this LJ and RL. What will remain open is:

Stories
Recs
Meta
Fandom content (griping about uncooperative stories, David Hewlett movie recs...)
The rare Buddhist posts
Utterly innocuous posts ("My, what a fine day it is!" "Yes, yes it is." -- "My grandmother has cancer." "Golly, that's terrible news.")

Most people are just here for the stories, so this works out great.

If you want to be included on the personal stuff, if you were actually reading my whinging about school, comment or email and I'll friend you (until I use up the slots I've opened up). I'm not trying to be exclusive, just a little more careful about locking out RL.


ETA: Sorry, I wasn't clear. I'm not creating a RL filter. I'm just locking posts that used to open for anyone to wander by.

I actually do read everything that people on my flist write, so I'd really like to be on the filter that would let me see your school stuff - it makes me feel better about mine :D

Sure. I'll friend away. I gave up on filters for posting (I do use them for reading thought) so I have a one-size-fits-all filter: to f-lock, or not to f-lock. ;)

I used to not lock anything. Then my dad found my LJ (wasn't hard). So I locked the sex posts. But left everything else open. Now I'm going through and locking anything of voyeuristic intrest.

If I've friended you, it should make no difference. I'm just f-locking, not filtering. I have you friended, don't I? I'm not sure. *checks*

I would love to stay on your RL filter. It helps to see that other people's lives are far busier then mine. Heck, during your finals week, I feel well rested by comparison.

I'm not filtering, this is just ordinary f-lock. I have people who have me friended but I've never friended them back since I'd hit the LJ limit on friends.

When I warned people that I was going to f-lock RL content, a couple people (and I mean two) mentioned that they'd like to stay in the loop.

So I went through Joule and deleted dead journals and HP people who've unfriended me over since December 2005, opening up some slots. I meant to only open a few, but you know what it's like once you start cleaning....

This is just f-locking. I mentioned I was locking RL content and a couple people who liked reading the school posts (they weren't friended as I haven't had space in forever) wished they could stay on the filters. So I went back into my LJ and deleted dead journals, etc., and just kept cleaning.

It's interesting that you just posted this. I was just *positive*, in that way that one is when one is so totally sure and then apparently is so totally wrong, that I'd added you when you started the skating crack storyline, but I've had so little time to keep up with LJ lately that I was just randomly checking my favs and was quite startled to not find you in the 'i's. Why were you not in the 'i's when I was so sure I had put you there? Is a puzzlement. (Not really, if you go by the whole rest of my *life*, but one lives in hope.)(Or despair, depends on how you look at it, I suppose.)

Cool. Though the stories are going to remain unlocked. I had a ton of links on my Stargate rec-list disappear when an author decided to suddenly lock her entire LJ.

I'd never do that to people. It was such a pain to find the new, open, links.
