Checking the f-list, I heard the news. Double-checked Gateworld (hey, rumors can fly).

Stargate SG-1 is cancelled. Stargate Atlantis lives on without her sister show.

Well, there's something that'll never happen in the Harry Potter series. "Guess what? J. K. Rowling decided to cancel book seven."

I remain cautiously optimistic for reasons probably having to do with my being high on Echinacea (don't tell me this stuff isn't a narcotic, it so is).

I think what made Stargate SG-1 popular was the original team. Once Rick Anderson left the show, they made a new show with new characters, but after just one season with the new folks it hadn't achieved lift-off. I think it was possible and maybe still could. I have no idea where or how Robert Cooper thinks SG-1 could go other than the Sci-Fi channel, but hey, I'm open to options. I drifted to Stargate SG-1 after the cancellation of Star Trek: The Next Generation around 1999. My science fiction addiction lives on.

You never know. *g*

ITA. That's why, though Atlantis is an okay show, it's SG-1 that I still love, even though I don't necessarily love all the changes.

That's the first thing I did, too, when I got home. Well, I didn't check Gateworld, but I checked other sources--even before reading the rest of my flist.

I've never had a science fiction addiction, though--just an addiction to SG-1.

It's true it was all Jack/Daniel love for me that attracted me (along with the Stargate concept and the fact that I love Sci-fi) to the show in the first place it sure wasn't Tealc or Samantha Carter that did anything for me. Once he was gone the show was basically over for me, you know? I just hope SGA doesn't find itself filled with actors from SG1. It seems to me that SGA has little enough time dealing with it's wonderful working group and doesn't need an "add-on" from the other show. SG1 had ten years on television which, for any series, is a great run.

Figures. They finally, finally get both Stargates on iTunes and one gets cancelled.

That said, it's probably the right call. Atlantis is running a lot stronger.

Tafkar has an interesting/funny look at what other cable-outlet options there realistically might be for SG-1. Otherwise, I'm with you -- I am beggaring my imagination trying to come up with an idea of where the hell RCC thinks it could go, if not the SciFi Channel. You know? In some ways, I'm almost scared to find out. (If you have seen "200" yet...)

There's a very strange rumor going around that Showtime actually expressed interest in having it back. (There was a funny quote from the Kansas City Star's review of the premiere, actually, snarking about how Showtime ditched it and went on to produce... absolutely nothing memorable.) I have no idea how much truth there is to the rumor, though. It'd be a really weird move. I guess I put that in the "I'll believe it when I see it" column.

I'm also just of the mind that maybe it shouldn't go anywhere, just yet. I like the idea of movies or mini-series better than S11 on another network. *shrug* Do some of that for SG-1... maybe come up with a true sequel *series* at some point ("Stargate Command"), maybe with some of the SG-1 characters, or not.

I totally agree with the above sentiment that they should not try to migrate SG-1 characters over to SGA. Not because it might not make sense in some cases, storywise, but just because SGA *has* an ensemble that's spread a little thin already.

That's the case for me. I couldn't get into the new team at all, even though I wanted to.

me and my friends have discussed, much to our horror, what would happen if jkr died before finishing the last books.... oh how scary... but it would just be a hurdle to have to get over... a big one, but yeah...
i found out last night..course..that's when it was announced.. and i wrote 3 letters and sent them out today. fans are on the rise. things have changed before. my boyfriend said that with fan intervention, they got another season of farscape as well as a movie... so it's possible..
i'm keeping my fingers crossed. i did my bit... i hope others do theres. not that you're a bad person if you don't...yeah... *foot in mouth*

ohh. i heard a rumor that they're gonna make a sequel to the movie. Stargate II, only they'd bring back spader and russell, and ignore the past 10 years of the show...
that...would be so dumb...
