Weighing PWPs is like judging a wet t-shirt contest. What's not to love? "Hmm. That's a nice set, but hers are definitely perkier." *Icarus tosses and catches popcorn.*
Dangerous - Daniel/Camulus? I'll get back to you on this one. I have never found Camulus hot. *head-scratch*
Endurance - Sleepy early morning Jack and Daniel. Mmmm... I remember this one. Jack and Daniel challenging each other, I love it when they have a bet they will surely fail. Mild, pleasing humor. I love plots with my PWPs though I've sworn to put sheer hotness first for this competition.
Fatboy Slim and the Softail Custom - Odd title. First person, and once again, no. First person is all about getting the voice of the character right. If you can't tell who the "I" is from the first sentence, then no. Backbutton.
From Daniel, With Love - First person again. But also, I will never be able to read the word "precious" without thinking of Gollum, especially if it reoccurs several times in two paragraphs. Backbutton.
Getting Off - Oh, I know this one, so glad it got nominated. Guh. It's as hot as ever, coarse and utterly masculine. My heart rate is still fast and pounding. Everything very clearly visualized.
Hooked - The lack of dialogue tags marks this as no quite being on the same level as the others. The leap back in time disrupts the sexy/humor of two men struggling with Daniel's tight jeans. I go in search of hotter fics.
Intensity - Ooo. Collar. Oh, hmm. The voice of this detracts from the hotness. There's too much distance, like a video camera left on in the room.
Just Say It - I love this The Grrrl, but the first person doesn't work for me. First person is just not hot.
Leonine - Huh? Teal'c/Cameron? I read on. Okay, Teal'c laughing is incredibly sexy. "how the hell do you get anything done with these friggin’ robes on anyway, it’s like trying to make out with a set of curtains" -- great line. The phrase seismic has got me. Wow. I'm impressed. I've just been sold and turned on by a pairing I don't like.
Raindance - Nope. I don't find schmoop hot. Also, in my experience with men in their forties, the running up and down hills? Not so much if they can avoid it.
Ships at Sea - The tangled emotions are compelling, but I don't buy the "whoops I slipped and fell on his cock" as a first time set up. Darn. It was getting interesting.
Shy Guy - I think I've heard of this story. Why yes, I wrote it. Okay, I say no more.
Slipping - This melted me. First, it captured with the careful work of sex, of being the person consciously bringing Daniel off. Then, their creativity. Then, finally, the insight into what really brings him off and that exposed emotional vulnerability. Hoo. I'm off to the showers for a moment.
The Stargate In Daniel's Refrigerator - I have decided that experimental is cool, but not hot.
Understood - This link is broken. Whoops.
Why not giving Archaeologists Coffee...can be a good thing - Funny, and fun, but lost me on the exclamation points.
Oh, you're all so lovely, and I feel boneless. Do I have to choose?
My favorites are Shy Guy (naturally), Slipping, Leonine, Getting Off, and Endurance. I can't ethically vote for my own Shy Guy, so that's out.
The three hottest are Slipping, Leonine, and Getting Off. But Slipping and Leonine taught me something new. Oh, this is a tough one. Slipping had very realistic and detailed sex, with a bonus insight into Jack/Daniel. Leonine made Teal'c/Cameron hot. Not only hot, but joyous, which is an insight in and of itself. *whines* This is hard!
I have to say...
Slipping. Because although Leonine did the impossible and made Teal'c/Cameron not just hot, but beautiful, it's sheer hotness that matters most. But I reserve the right to change this vote because it's soooo close.
I take it back: Leonine. I just can't not reward such a rare achievement.

Date: 2006-08-23 09:47 pm (UTC)But the slash nominees you mentioned above, I think I've read most, & I think I do agree with your vote, but I'm still going to read more because there are a few I haven't even heard of & I must be fair about it (nah, I'm really just looking for more porn to distract me from work & cleaning house.)
