I did it! It's up! The mission report on Seven Walls is done!

Title: Necromancy for the Living
Author: Icarus ([livejournal.com profile] icarusancalion)
Pairing: John/Rodney, Caldwell
Rating: R
Warning: Slavefic
Spoilers: None. Zero, zip, nada. Yes, the story is a mission report based on Auburn's In The City Of Seven Walls, but I reveal little more than what you could learn from the first paragraph and the header. I'm reassured by [livejournal.com profile] wordwitch the mission report stands on its own.
A/N: Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] auburnnothenna for giving me permission, reviewing the story, and even making suggestions, and the lovely betas, [livejournal.com profile] enname, [livejournal.com profile] amothea, and [livejournal.com profile] wordwitch.
Summary: How does John write a mission report about something no one wants to hear?

( Caldwell made his way towards Sheppard's temporary office, assigned until he figured out what to do with the man. )

Yes, I am obsessed with In The City Of Seven Walls, how did you guess? Yes, I have been sending Auburn ficlets as fan mail, how did you know? Yes, I do have a ficlet somewhere about a meeting between Caldwell and Heightmeyer, how could I not?

I really enjoyed this, I loved the imagery of Shepperd and McKay kneeling together in an almost empty office, Caldwell struggling to get his head around what he thinks of the whole thing and the sense that they have almost brought part of the city of seven walls back with them to Atlantis.

Seven walls is a fantastic story and this is an excellent companion to it, sits beautifully alongside it.

I can be no more coherent than that! Think this one will stay with me for a while today.

You're tempting me to draw this.

Caldwell struggling to get his head around what he thinks of the whole thing

Yeah, that's exactly what's going on. He can't quite grock it, or figure out what to do.

the sense that they have almost brought part of the city of seven walls back with them to Atlantis.

Selket is as much a part of them as Earth ever was, and there's something about traumatic experiences that imbues those events on the mind.

Think this one will stay with me for a while today.

Wonderful.

Whew, I'm so relieved, too. It's a tall order to write a piece set in such a popular story and not have it fall flat. When I finished and started writing the summary it hit me what I was doing -- I almost couldn't write a summary, and ran to [livejournal.com profile] lizardspots to panic for a while.
