Aha! Another little tidbit buried in a random folder.
I don't know what I planned to do with this either, but I thought you might enjoy it regardless.
Title: Welcome Home: The Metronome follow-up scene
Author: Icarus
Rating: PG
Fandom/Pairing: HP, Lucius
Summary: Not a story, just a ficlet. The scene when Lucius returns home after his first meeting with Lord Voldemort.
The sun was all the way up and had turned the frost to a golden mist by the time Lucius returned to Malfoy Manor. The mist drifted about the manor buildings, gilding ivy, softening the hard edges of the stone gargoyles, mysterious and celebratory. A black ragged dot outside his bedroom window, Lucius hovered on his broom, struggling with the latch; then managed to edge it open and disappear inside. The broom fell to the ground with a clatter.
Lucius' bedroom was dark and felt strangely as though it hadn't been used for a thousand years. After a brief pause, he made his way towards the wardrobe.
"Where have you been?" The question was as soft as melting butter.
Lucius' mother sat waiting for him, curled in the wingback chair where she once read him bedtime stories. Her eyes were bloodshot and she wore no make-up; her hair in disarray over a black satin dressing gown.
Clearly, there were spells on the manor Lucius hadn't known. And that Lord Voldemort's cavern was Unplottable.
"With Avery," Lucius said with utmost sincerity.
She stood. "You are grounded."
She drew her wand and the open window slid shut with a bang. The door slammed. "You are not to leave this room until I say otherwise."
His wand flew out of his pocket to her hand. "You are not allowed any magic. Or your broom."
She advanced on him. "And Avery is not your friend."
Lucius smiled at this last.
She folded her arms. "These punishments shall remain in effect until the start of the school year. But you are not to have anything to do with that family henceforth. Is that understood?"
There was a long pause. Then Lucius answered, "Will that be all, mother?"
I don't know what I planned to do with this either, but I thought you might enjoy it regardless.
