Eee! Figure skating! Ilia Kulik!

So on top of the U.S. Nationals, wildernessguru and I are going on a date: to Scott Hamilton's Stars on Ice, hee, this Sunday.

One of the numbers is to Janis Joplin. Ilia Kulik, greatest skater ever in my book, is the guest star.

This is perfect. A real competition, and the exposition numbers I wouldn't have seen otherwise (and I get to have a date, finally, with wildernessguru. It's been so long).

And even though I'm mired in the mud on Out Of Bounds, I am editing what I have so far (thanks, teaphile! *waves flirtatiously*) And I'm also doing research on skating elements. Darn, I wish I could take some skating classes or track down someone who has. *bats eyelashes at f-list*

Also, thank you silver_cyanne! Just watched the most recent SGA eps. I finally figured out what you're doing with the repeat eps on the disks. Oooooh. Okay, watch the mail.

Regarding the skating elements... During the last months of last year there were two skating shows on TV, both with the same theme - celebs learning pair skating together with professional skaters. From show to show the degree of difficulty went higher and you could learn a lot about the different figures.
Sadly I don't remember much... :(

It were both German shows. Don't know if it helps you at all.

The first one would be 'Stars auf Eis' (http://www.prosieben.de/lifestyle_magazine/starsaufeis/). The second 'Dancing on Ice' (http://www.rtl.de/tv/dancingonice.php).
The second one is according to Wikipedia an adaption of the British TV show. They also say that there was a show in the US called 'Skating with Celebrities'. Maybe you find more here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dancing_on_Ice).

Hah! A cool date. I love figure skating. And it turns out that there are going to be the European Championships here in Warsaw this month. Best stuff tales place when I'm at work. And tickets for the final gala have been sold out. And to top it all, not a single Polish newspaper or TV station announced that there would be an event like that in Poland. Oh, no. I was watching ski-jumping on a foreign channel and the championships were advertised in every commercial break. *headdesks*

God, I suck at life I'm so far behind on everything. I'm so sorry that I haven't sent stuff out in a while. Got the Tao of Rodney redone with actual audio this time and I'm going to try to get some disks out to people this week. And I should have explained the disk system, it made sense to me, which doesn't say much. At any rate, I hope to get some crack out to you soon so you can have some lovely SGA to distract you from real life.
