Yes, I started organizing my del.icio.us tags like mad late at night. Yes, I keep dreaming up new categories.

Yes, I imitated a few authors and finally tagged all my fics (though not all the drabbles and shortfics). Yes, HP and SG-1 included.

Yes, the un-alphabetical nature of del.icio.us still drives me batty. No matter how organized the tags -- It. Looks. Wrong.

Yes, I'm actually starting to use it for recs anyway. It's a little slow on dial-up but with the new computer it no longer crashes my system.

You know what I like to see in a del.icio.us tag? A description and a personal opinion, something short and sweet like: "McKay assaulted by Ancient technology! John to the rescue. Sweet ending."

The Fourth Vine does them best so far.

Lots of noise in the hallway. Kitty is running back and forth, nervous and scared. Okay. This is one very high-strung cat.

My del.icio.us bookmarks are mostly for my benefit, so I tend not to include comments. I did when I first started using it, and I probably ought to go back to it since I occasionally have to click through to the stories in order to remember exactly which story it is.

If I include a comment, it's usually because: 1) I'm bookmarking something that's old/obscure that might need context for people who run across it in my list; 2) it's something unusual for me to save; or 3) I'm tagging it in a way others might disagree with/misunderstand.

(A good example of that last one is Pru's Out of West. I have it tagged first as gen/rodney and only secondarily as mckay/sheppard because, to me, it's a story about Rodney, not John and Rodney. I included the mckay/sheppard tag only for the benefit anyone who might run across my bookmarks and happen to not be a fan of mckay/sheppard. I think I may have done the same with Freedom's Just Another Word....)

Well, it's not a criticism, more a preference. I'm pretty frustrated with this whole system and its tendency to save all my typos. So far this morning I've corrected:

famdom
vron

arry

*sigh*

Do you use Greasemonkey? If so try Del.icio.us alpha sort. [livejournal.com profile] wistfuljane mentioned a couple other useful del.icio.us scripts here.

Poor kitty.

:)

Mine is out frolicking in the humidity ... for once.

This whole del.icio.us thing is... new to me. Plus hard to type. :P

It's so inconvenient, I'm almost certain people are doing it just because everyone else is doing it. There must be a better way. But the folks at [livejournal.com profile] sgastoryfinders tell me this is how they find stories so fast, so....
