icarus: Snape by mysterious artist (Percy glows)

I'm struggling with writing right now. I'm on the edge of finishing SNAFU, on the edge of understanding Snape Manor and pulling together those first three chapters I've written, on the edge of a lot of things, and I'm ready to write... but RL is wearing me out. When I get home, I'm tired and distracted, and hard pressed to focus and work my way through it. I'm afraid I may have to post Snape Manor as a WiP. I think, that's what I'm going to do... sorry guys, I promised I would never do this, but... it's that or nothing.

Heh. I just want to call in sick and write SNAFU, except I know I'd feel too guilty to write, and frankly, people are counting on me. Ron and Draco are champing at the bit though. They want to have at that Ministry.

Here's hoping I have the energy to either stay up late tonight writing, or make it happen tomorrow. Tell Wilderness Guru to leave me be for a day, will you?

I wish ....

I wish I had a time-turner I could lend you, Icarus, because it sounds like that's just the thing you need right now. On the other hand, if I had a time-turner I'd probably be using it myself, to do exactly the same thing. These days I do most of my writing in my lunch-break because I've no time or energy in the evenings.

Have you noticed how inspiration always occurs at the most impossible moments?

And then, when I do get time, I get bogged down in impossible little details. I can't believe I just spent four hours online trying to work out (a) when Easter fell in 1997, (b) when the actual full moon occurred at Easter 1997, (c) whether Passover that year corresponded to Easter, and then (d) sat for half an hour trying to think up a really good justification for the reason the Easter school break worked out as a consequence ....

(I did work it out, mind you. But four hours! What a waste of a Sunday afternoon.)

Mad Martha, oozing sympathy

I respond to sympathy by writing stories. This one came up while I was trying to write 'SNAFU.' Remember when I told you I'd write some Harry/Ron smut for Circles of Power?

Special Delivery (http://www.livejournal.com/users/icarusancalion/76184.html#cutid1). A bed is delivered.

Let me know if you want a LiveJournal code. I have one with your name on it if you like.

Wow. I don't know what to say except thank you! That's a really nifty cookie *grins idiotically* I ought to to feel guilty, of course, because this has taken you away from writing SNAFU ... but I don't because (a) anything that get's you writing Harry/Ron works just fine for me and (b) I'm too awestruck by Ron's assets *grin*

Hmm .... Now I feel inspired. What was I trying to work on earlier ...?

Oops.

I meant to add: Thanks for the offer of a LiveJournal code, but I hope you won't mind if I decline? It's just that I can barely keep up with things now, and if I got a LiveJournal everything would definitely go to the hot place in a handcart ...

But I appreciate the offer!

Not at all. I was almost certain you had declined before. Wise choice. You have no idea how much time I spend fooling around on this thing. Though when I get a comment entitled *Meep!* for a story I wrote half an hour aga, it's all worth it.

It's also useful as a mini-archive for my cookies and drabbles, as I can link to them. And, in the case of inspiration striking in the middle of the workday, I can pop it open and type the idea, and mark it private.

But when I hit that friends page. Uh. Oh god, I'm lost. Hours of distraction that should be spent writing...

Yeah, Ron's a little awestruck by his own assets. He thinks they ought to be out on a billboard someplace.

Truth is, for you to get a handle on the sexual dynamic of Circles of Power, you have to write - even as backstory (though I'll read it!) - Harry and Ron's first time in that universe. That will set the tone for the rest of the story. Watch. The two of them will cooperate better.
