Blades of Glory. Brash. Obvious. Hilarious.

Just got back from the silliest movie. It was sooo deliberately stupid and I loved every minute of it. My face hurts I laughed so hard.

I wasn't planning on seeing it until after I finished the skating fic, but after iibnf's recomendation (f-locked, so you'll just have to trust me it's a funny review) I couldn't resist.

We almost saw them as a double bill but we were a little tired. Hot Fuzz is next on the list.

I think Blades of Glory is funnier than Hot Fuzz, but there's no denying that Hot Fuzz is a MUCH, MUCH better movie. If you're only going to see one, see Hot Fuzz... but since you saw BOG, I'm glad you found it funny. It's a cack!

I thought Blades was funnier, too. But Hot Fuzz is slick and clever. (I liked Blades better, but then again, my all-time favorite movie is Airplane.)

I adored that movie too! It was completely ridiculous, and very silly, but also one of the funniest movies I've seen. I laughed so much that I almost cried! :)

First time in my entire life I've seen an liked a skating movie, and I've been really bad about that since I picked it up. They just do it right.

And see Hot Fuzz.

They never lose the pacing, and they nail every bizarre and over-the-top aspect of the sport. Oh, and if you know the specific skaters they're spoofing, it's even funnier. I mean, it opens with Evan Lysacek's ultra-femme skating music, and the blond character is so Johnny Weir, right down to the sweetness-and-light slogans and... hahahahahahahahahahahaha! The jokes on the Caruthers brother and sister skating team, and the mockery of the rivalry between Plushenko and Yagudin, hee!

The part that made me giggle days later was the dangerous skating maneuver: the Iron Lotus. When they showed the footage from North Korea --- hahah! Yeah, tough move, eh?
