It's a beautiful sunny day in Seattle, a rarity once the September rain hits.

wildernessguru is out in the forest, wearing an overstuffed McHale backpack shaped like a missle silo. Five days in the woods with enough equipment to keep himself comfortable. He's probably all the way to Derrick Lake by now.

I hope he's having fun and has taken lots and lots of photos. This beautiful weather probably won't reach him till tomorrow. *mentally sends WG the sun*

I'm glad he went, but I miss him. Me and commander fuzzhead are used to having company.

Commander fuzzhead is staring at me, beaming, like I'm the center of the universe and he's well pleased I exist. He usually does this to wildernessguru.

WG's right. This is slightly uncomfortable.

My mom's cat, which could only be more closely tied to her if it were a goa'uld symbiote, does this by about the third day I'm staying over to take care of Dad in Mom's absence. It takes about 48 hours for the realization to percolate into her brain that she's been getting her food from me rather than Mom, and switch from "cool indifference" to "clingy affection."

Terrible when the koala-cat-thing does it, usually because it is the face of 'omgyouhavegoneawayfordaysonendandIhaven'tseenyouandIamlonelyandletmejustclingtoyourheadforawhile.' Really discomfitting because I am an utter, dismal failure at being the centre of the universe, let alone an outlying meteor.

I hope WG enjoys his hike and also gets the good weather, and that you stay sane for when he returns :P
