WG back injury.

wildernessguru hurt his back at work yesterday. He was hauling huge five-gallon buckets of welding metal, and it turns out that's heavy. After he tweaked his back, he bent down to pick up a coiled rope next to a ship in dry dock, and his back spasmed. All he could do was hold on to the ship while he felt like collapsing.

Naturally, he continued to work for the rest of the day, until about 1pm, when he'd just about had it.

We started with alternating hot and cold last night, but the hot didn't help so we're sticking to icing it. He can walk around (in fact needs to) but getting up and down ... well, he has to lay on the bed and then eel his way up. He'll be taking a walk this afternoon and is seeing a massage therapist soon.

I am so far behind in replying to comments, it's not even funny. I've read them all, thank you all for your responses, I'll be back online later.

Thank you. Two days later, he's still hobbling. He spent a lot of yesterday sleeping, then took a short walk down the hallway. He was able to sit for some time but this morning he started getting up and walking around to deal with the ache. We iced it again (and he slept some more). He seems to be doing a little better at the moment.

*pokes nose in* Bloody hell, that sucks. I'm glad to hear that he's going to be seeing a massage therapist, that helps a lot, as does a good chiropractor. I hope he heals quickly. *sending healing energies and good vibes his and you way*

He wasn't feeling up to the massage yesterday, but will be calling in sick to work and go to see the guy tomorrow. *crosses fingers* This has cancelled our New Year's plans, oh well....

Ibruprofen's the max he's taking at the moment, but, he's taking about six a day.

Sympathies to WG and you! Hope he feels better soon! At least he's staying home from work! Sorry about the spoiled New Year's Eve plans. This year 2007 just won't quit, will it, with the crappy and the shitty!
