And now, I shall horrify you with my taste in music. Yes, yes, this is supposed to be couched in a meme, but what is the point of said memes, I ask you?

Let the horror begin.

I quickly add that some of these may be WG's fault.

1 & 2 - Soundgarden - "4th of July" ... quickly followed by ... Red Hot Chili Peppers - "Sir Psycho Sexy"
Wherein Icarus proves that her tastes run to the mainstream and ordinary. Also, she can no longer play these songs as she overplayed them both while writing Beg Me For It.

3 - Ramones - "Too Tough To Die"
Yes, like everyone else, Icarus didn't care for the Ramones back in the 80s (during which time she played bubblegum pop) but she's retroactively cool now, oh yeah, sure.

4 - Tangerine Dream - "Going West"
All the electronica-New Age stuff belongs to [livejournal.com profile] wildernessguru, I swear. (He can name TD albums, really.) Except Enigma. I take full responsibility for the Enigma.

5 - Sade - "Jezebel"
This and "Minnie The Moocher" are the closest I get to jazz, but only because Sade has one of the best voices ever -- and who doesn't love Cab Calloway? (I only learned of Calloway because of the movie The Cotton Club.)

6 - The Black Angels - "Manipulation"
I'd love to take credit for this bit of cool -- rising indie band, anyone? But this is [livejournal.com profile] wildernessguru's find. I've only seen two live concerts in my life: the Black Angels and the Motor City Devils.

7 - Tangerine Dream - "Underwater Twilight"
He's a really big fan of Tangerine Dream.

8 - Blondie - "Call Me"
Yep. That's mine. I love this song.

9 - Joss Stone - "Put Your Hands On Me"
[livejournal.com profile] wildernessguru bitches and moans at my Detroit R&B. Though that may be because I crank this one, full blast, and have played it... *counts* ... 110 times.

10 - Kristine W. - "Lovin' You"
Ehhhh... not my style, but we both love the Queer As Folk soundtracks. Despite the occasional dud.

11 - Mussorgsky - "Circus Polka For A Young Elephant"
Another one that [livejournal.com profile] wildernessguru whines about, but I love my Russian composors, and that's that. Okay, okay, I got this piece for Rodney in Out Of Bounds.

12 - CSI Soundtrack - "Day By Day"
WG's. But I call it a windshield wiper song. It's perfect for a wet highway.

13 - Thomas Newman - "Zoomies"
Jarhead Soundtrack. Music I picked up looking for pieces for John in Out Of Bounds.

14 - Blink 182 - "Adam's Song"
I prefer Dammit. We saw Blink 182 on Conan O'Brian and thought they were the greatest.

15 - Old School Rap
I was looking for that song that had the refrain "The roof, the roof, the roof is on fire! We don't need no water let the motherfucker burn!" I ended up with this instead.

16 & 17 & 18 - Three Dog Night - "Shambala" ... and shortly after that ... BTO - "Taking Care Of Business" ... and after that ... Quiet Riot - "Bang Your Head"
From Supernatural, and well, this is [livejournal.com profile] wildernessguru's generation. *squeezes him*

19 - The Killers - "The Ballad Of Michael Valentine"
A song that I think sucks. But that's okay, because "Where The White Boys Dance," "Tranquilize," and "All The Pretty Faces" are on the same album. I discovered The Killers in a figure skating vid. Some kid didn't seem to get that "Where The White Boys Dance" was about a guy cheating on his girlfriend with other other men. All she heard was the word "Dance" -- hee.

20 - Johnny Cash - "Cocaine Blues"
Entirely Joe Flanigan's fault. I had to see what the big deal was about this "Johnny Cash" cat. I'm meh about this song but I like what he recorded when he was much older.

There you go. My random 20. Thank you for participating. Any songs you care to admit to liking I will be more than happy to upload.

Huh. We didn't even hit the Bollywood movie music yet.... *Icarus dodges tomatoes*

P.S. [livejournal.com profile] wildernessguru recommends the Iraqi heavy metal band Acrassicauda, by the way.

Yay for Tangerine Dream! Sorry.

To the best of my knowledge, The Roof is on Fire is by Bloodhound Gang. And yes, I have it. I have their cd "Hooray for Boobies" too. *facepalms*

Wide-ranging tastes. Not unlike my own. :)

LOL! Thank you. (I love that song.)

Your taste in music is as eclectic as mine, though I love TD and New Age music in general. Czech Gypsy Punk? That sounds like it could be interesting! Could you pretty please make some recommendations?

Better than that, I shall send you an actual song. Beware. It involves fiddles and screaming.

too tired to comment properly, other than to say #8 inspired a SportsNight fic that I never posted and probably have lost forever because of hard drive losses. (Who can resist Dan & Casey on the phone - naked or otherwise?!)

Thank you! Hmmm...not my cup of tea, but for some reason it reminds me of the music from the nightclub scene at the beginning of the movie "Bent". I think I'll stick with the folk music, which I very much enjoy.

I didn't think you'd like. It's weird stuff. It's... it's like coffee ice cream. I can't decide if I like it or not. I start enjoying it. And then they start screaming (or I remember I hate coffee in the case of the ice cream). But then I start enjoying it again. After the screaming stops, that is.

Ergh.

Actually my taste in music seems to be as wide ranged as yours. You can find pretty much any genre on my playlist.
Oddly enough I tend to like music that's not really my generation, which would explain why SPN-music is playing all day long in my car right now. *lol*

Let's make sure.

A long, long, long, long time ago
Before the wind, before the snow
Lived a man, lived a man I know
Lived a freak of nature named Sir Psycho

Sir Psycho Sexy that is me
Sometimes I find I need to scream

He's a freak of nature
But we love him so
He's a freak of nature
But we let him go

Deep inside the garden of Eden
Standing there with my hard on bleedin'
Theres a devil in my dick and some demons in my semen
Good God no that would be treason
Believe me Eve she gave good reason
Botty looking too good not to be squeezin'
Creamy beaver hotter than a fever
I'm a givin' 'cause she's the reciever
I won't and I don't hang up until I please her
Makin' her feel like an over achiever
I take it away for a minute just to tease her
Then I give it back a little bit deeper

Sir Psycho Sir Psycho yea he's the man that I met 1 time
Sir Psycho Sir Psycho yea he's the man that left me blind

(chorus)
Sir Psycho Sir Psycho yea he's the man he's the man he's
the man

He's a freak of nature
But we love him so
He's a freak of nature
But we let him go

I got stopped by a lady cop
In my automobile
She said get out and spead your legs
And then she tried to cop a feel
That cop she was all dressed in blue
Was she pretty? Boy I'm tellin' you
She stuck my butt with her big black stick
I said "what's up?" now suck my dick
Like a ram getting ready to jam the lamb
She whimpered just a little when she felt my hand
On her crotch so very warm
I could feel her getting wet through her uniform
Proppin' her up on the black and white
Unzipped and slipped "ooo that's tight"
I swatted her like no swat team can
Turned a cherry pie right into jam

(chorus)

Hello young woman that I love
Pretty punk rock mamma that I'm thinking of
Hold me naked if you will
In your arms in your legs in your pussy I'd kill
To be with you, to kiss with you, I do miss you
I love you

Lay me down ....
Descending waves of graceful pleasure
For your love there is no measure
Her curves they bend with subtle splendor

Now I lay me down to sleep
I pray the funk will make me freak
If I should die before I waked
Allow me Lord to rock out naked
Bored by the ordinary time to take a trip
Calling up a little girl with a bull whip
Lickety split go snap "snap"
Girl gettin' off all in my lap
The tallest tree the sweetest sap
Blowin' my ass right off the map
Ooo and it's nice out here
I think I'll stay for a while

Sound like what you remember? *evil smile*

Actually, I love it when it shifts to the major key and sounds like the soundtrack to a Japanese Anime.

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

*beats head on desk*

I remember now, it took me bloody three weeks to get it out of my head the first time round

*glares*

Thank you

I like the key shift too, but I can't listen to the cd anymore because of this very reason.

Now I am going to go close the library down and NOT sing it over the PA system.

That's a great compliment, "wide ranged." Does that mean we like anything that's good?

Hmm. Maybe not. I like some tacky songs, too. *grins unabashedly at the Doo-Wop, 80s pop, and Ricky Martin*

Oh, yes. Let me give you some good Czech music. Which did you like? The hard rock song "Mala Dama," the soft protest song by Karel Kyrel, or the more wistful trumpet piece (that started with the sound of a train) by Traband?

have you seen that 80's movie called 'Legend' that had Tom Cruise and Tim Curry in it, where it was all awful 80's fantasy-ish? that's how i know tangerine dream, because they have a song called "loved by the sun" as the main theme of that movie.
one line from their song kills me,
"hand in hand, the beginning is at the start"
ahahaha

Whatever "good" means in this context. ;) But yeah, why not?

*lol* I know what you mean. Sometimes there are songs you just can't get out of your head, as bad as they might be. And then you find yourself liking them. *shudders* I get painfully reminded of that when I'm in the basement and see my old vinyls.
