Working on Out Of Bounds. Good news: I have 8,000 more words written. Bad news: there are big blank spots in between scenes so I can't post the 8,000 words. But we're working on that, honest.

Toronto people, we have a winner! Rodney lives in the Scarborough Bluffs, a.k.a., "The Bluffs." Formerly cheap-ville, Kingston not being too pretty as Toronto streets go with all those strip malls. Now the early buyers are sitting pretty.

Now for the meme:

★ THE RULES ★
Step 1: Put your MP3 player or whatever on random.
Step 2: Post a line from the first 25 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing the song.
Step 3: Post and let everyone you know guess what song and artist the lines come from.
Step 4: Strike out the songs when someone guesses correctly.
Step 5: No cheating. No Googling. AND NO LAST.FM SEARCHING.

And today I learned that I have a lot of instrumental music. I had to go through about 33-35 songs to hit ones with lyrics. So here's a guessing game for you all.

What songs are they from?

1) "Confutatis maledictis / flammis acribus addictis" [livejournal.com profile] ivy03 is the intellectual among us, recognizing the latin in: "Confutatis" from Mozart's Requiem
2) "...guess you gotta slow that mustang down" [livejournal.com profile] jenra has it: "Mustang Sally," this version by Creedence Clearwater Revival
3) "Hold on to me I'm a sliding scale / can't endure then you can inhale"
4) "Seventeen a nature's queen, you know what I mean" [livejournal.com profile] reedfem got it: "Rock Bottom" by UFO
5) "Let go your love / ride his pulse and you forget" [livejournal.com profile] magic_8ball has it: "Strange Face" by Tito and Tarantula (I'm so impressed; this one I would not have guessed myself)
6) "I used to shout across the room to you / and you'd come dancing like a fool"
7) "Aggressively we all defend the role we play"
8) "I hurt myself today / to see if I still feel" [livejournal.com profile] agonizingmercy has it: "Hurt," cover of NIN by Johnny Cash
9) "If you roll up in the club, and them boys wanna mug / When you step up to they face, what they gon' do?"
10) "And in the morning when you fill my eyes" [livejournal.com profile] ambrosia4all got it: "Fill My Eyes" by Cat Stevens
11) "Home in the valley / home in the city / home isn't pretty" [livejournal.com profile] starrylizard got it: "Burning For You" by Blue Oyster Cult
12) "I lose all control / when you grab a-hold / when you do your trick"
13) "You don't care for me / I don't care about that" [livejournal.com profile] magic_8ball has it: "Fire" by Jimi Hendrix
14) "I'm not like them / but I can pretend"
15) "If I was a Londoner / rich with concrete / would you take me back to your house which is tainted"
16) "Standing on a corner of a civilization / is a time and a place for me"
17) "Is it getting better? / Or do you feel the same? / Will it make it make it easier on you now that you've got someone to blame?" [livejournal.com profile] mylexie and [livejournal.com profile] sarka and [livejournal.com profile] ivy03 all got it (popular song): "One" and this version is by U2
18) "Morning glory / Morning glory / Hey, morning glory / Please, tell your story"
19) "A wiggle in her walk and a giggle in her talk / make the world go around" And [livejournal.com profile] malnpudl has it: "Chantilly Lace" by the Big Bopper
20) "Liberty or death, what we so proudly hail / Once you provoke her, rattling of her tail" [livejournal.com profile] tafkah has it: "Don't Tread On Me" by Metallica
21) "Relax don't do it / When you want to suck to it" [livejournal.com profile] florahart has it: "Relax" by Frankie Goes to Hollywood
22) "When I look around / I cannot take for granted / The gift to me"
23) "Tethered with tears in their eyes / May no man's touch ever tame"
24) "You make me violate you / you make me desecrate you" [livejournal.com profile] agonizingmercy has it: "Closer" by NIN
25) "Days grow shorter and the nights are getting long / feels like we're running out of time"

A leeetle hint: there are two that have the title in the lyrics I posted.

#8. Hurt. Could be by NIN, Johnny Cash or... someone else I don't have. :P

I got the easy ones. :P
Others I know but don't know bands or titles. Just lyrics.

There's even one where the title is in the lyrics I posted. Though looking through the list (given I suck at these games myself) there are quite a few that I would never guess.

Logic says it would be Morning Glory. Yes? Unfortunately, I don't think I know that one. Haha. I should do this!

LOL! Okay, I have two with the title in the lyrics I posted. Now the hard part: who's it by?

;)

#2 - Mustang Sally by the Commitments

and Hi! I'm a long time lurker.

Hi, lurker! *grins at you*

You are correct, although this is the one by Creedence Clearwater Revival (I think the original but don't quote me on that).

Ooh! Ooh! I know that one!

"Chantilly Lace" by the Big Bopper (although I think Jerry Lee Lewis wrote it, if I remember correctly)

From: [identity profile] icarusancalion.livejournal.com
I haven't figured a single one on other people's memes, so it feels good to have one where I know all the songs. *grin*

Date: 2008-03-24 08:00 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lavvyan.livejournal.com
I knew one on another person's meme, except the interpreter I guessed wasn't the one they meant and there were about two dozen other versions, olus they were being rather snobbish about how their taste in music was clearly superior to mine, so I've stayed away from those memes till this one. In which I promptly failed rather embarrassingly. *laughs at self*

Date: 2008-03-24 08:04 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] icarusancalion.livejournal.com
I suggest you do your own version of this meme. After I failed to guess anyone else's songs, I did this.

Now I know them all.

18... the only 'Morning Story' I know is by Oasis, but I don't think it's that one...

17 - You've got it, and the right version.

18 - Nope, you're correct, that's not the one.

1 - "Confutatis" from Mozart's Requiem (though with those lyrics it could be a number things)

Bingo! And technically, the title is "Confutatis."

17 - "One" by U2

Popular song. Three people have guessed it so far.

I should know Mozart. I've sung it enough times. :)

Also, don't know if you're a Supernatural fan, but at least three of these songs have appeared on the show. (Yes, I have a playlist of all the songs they've played. It's good music!)

Oh, yes, I'm well aware of it. That's one of the best things about the show in my not so humble opinion.
