Uh... help? iPod, ze is frozen.

iPod users...

Have any of you ever had your iPod freeze up? Just sit there on a menu and not move. It's been over 12 hours and the thing won't shut down.

I've tried plugging it into the computer and recharging it. All night.
I've tried toggling the switch on the bottom off and on.
I've tried holding down the menu button for many, many, many seconds.
I've tried plugging it into a different USB port.

It just sits there, stuck. And while my computer recognize something is plugged into that port, iTunes doesn't recognize there's an iPod.

Help. *is very sad* This is wildernessguru's birthday present.

I had to have the button on top On, the iPod unplugged, and hold the Menu and Center button at the same time.

Have you tried resetting it? It's either holding the middle and middle button for about six seconds, or the middle and pause button.

It worked. I had to have the button On, and press the Menu and Center button at the same time.

Yay, I'm glad! That's what I usually do if my nano freezes (sometimes literally -- it doesn't like getting too cold). XD

Oh goodness, it's been so long since I've even read an HP fic, but I think I'll go with Stargate. Maybe... do you still do Jack/Daniel? With the prompt of, "But it was working fine this morning!" XD

Do the following:

1. Shift the hold button on top on and off at least three times.
2. Hold down at the same time the up and next buttons on the wheel for about 10 seconds or until you see the apple logo on the screen.

Oh and make sure that it's not plugged to anything. Also, that usually happens if you try to take the ipod off without pressing eject, or if you did, something with the software went astray.

It was like this when I picked it up from WG's stuff. I called him and he said he last had it plugged into the car stereo deck yesterday.

I'm glad it did. That's the equivalent to a Ctrl+Alt+Del on a computer.

Pardon a total stranger for jumping in here, but I saw this on my foaf list and I've had a number of problems in the past with my iPod freezing up so I thought I'd contribute.

You need to hold down both the center button and the up (menu) direction key on the scroll wheel at the same time for anywhere from 5-15 seconds. If it doesn't reset, keep holding. It should reset itself, but keep all your data. The screen will go black, and then the Apple logo will show. This confirms a successful reset.

The apple discussion boards are great! Sorry I didn't see the posting you had before this, but it's happened to me before. I posted something in the apple support discussion boards and someone told me just what to do. They've addressed most of my issues that way.

I love my Ipod but I HATE how complicated it is to reset. It doesn't happen very often, and each time I've managed to forget how to do it!
