Who did I vote for?

legomymalfoy. Specifically she is old school Star Wars and has been in HP slash fandom for years. She is also an LJ Support Team member and states explicitly "I want to start by saying that I am running to essentially be an advisor. I am not running to push a personal agenda of mine. I am not running to push fandom's agenda. I am not running to push any agenda." Here is her Platform.

synecdochic backs legomymalfoy: Synecdochic's statement here. synecdochic used to work for LJ. She has taken an intelligent middle ground on fandom unhappiness with Six Apart, and understands the qualifications needed for this role. synecdochic also has known legomymalfoy for many years. legomymalfoy has volunteered her time for LJ for the last five years.

seperis has also backed legomymalfoy based on her platform. Her comments here.

bookshop has backed legomymalfoy here. She points out that she's been a Fiction Alley mod (that's not an easy job) and having known her for years, describes her as "extremely, extremely fair and objective."

penknife knows and backs legomymalfoy "who I know to be sensible and sane" and her f-list vouches for rm. She explains that you don't want to vote for the same person for first, second, and third choice: "If your first-choice candidate is eliminated for having the lowest number of first-place votes at any point in the runoff process, your second and third choice votes will only count if they are for other people who have not yet been eliminated."

wikdsushi backs legomymalfoy, followed by vichan and rm, and urges us not to split the fandom vote. "With legomymalfoy we've got a damned good chance of getting someone with a pro-fandom stance on the LJ Advisory Board as long as we heed the fable of Mrs. McNally's Fourth Grade Class."

She's been involved in many aspects of LJ for many years, and that doesn't just include being a content contributor or paid user -- she's served both as a support volunteer and a member of the Abuse Prevention team." nicocoer backs legomymalfoy, rm, and vichan, in that order. She also has a series of election links.

violet_quill backs legomymalfoy: "I highly support her in this matter, because A) she's actually qualified, and B) she has fandom interests in mind." She supports vichan as a good second choice.

sage_theory backs legomymalfoy because she is the one who can, if we pile all the votes there, defeat jameth. And that yes, jameth's people have been putting flashing icons in journals of those who have epilepsy, knowing they have epilepsy.

frogspace (please correct me if I get it wrong, my German is shaky at best) tells us that legomymalfoy has the best chance. In comments she wipes tears of laughter out of her eyes at claims that jameth is objective. Wenn Fandom wählt.

lian_li feels that legomymalfoy has the best chance to win, and that even non-fans should vote against a known troll. Here. She directs people to fandom_votes.

meresy backs legomymalfoy first and rm second, as opposed to jameth. "Fangirls seem to agree he's sketch."

anitabuchan backs legomymalfoy who "has been an active member of fandom for years and was quite generally convincing that she'd be a good candidate."

caras_galadhon backs legomymalfoy, rm and vichan, and has withdrawn her support for randomposting. She says that if jameth wins "if you thought the Board was a joke before (like, say, when LJ ignored it right out of the gate), then this will seal its fate. Given that Lawrence Lessig, author of Free Culture is already on the Board, it strikes me as pretty damn insulting to let a guy who thinks it's funny to campaign with icons that could trigger epileptic seizures sit on the same Board as someone deeply involved in the Creative Commons movement."

karinberry has taken the time to read all the candidate platforms. She says that the point is to pick the candidate best for the job and not just the candidate best for fandom. "I urge you all, again, to read through what the candidates have to say. I changed my mind as I went through the platform posts, and ultimately settled on my original first choice with different second and third choices." She selects legomymalfoy for 1st, rm for 2nd, and vichan. She has come out against jameth: "He's done nothing but actively speak out against the other candidates, which is exactly what I hate about Some Presidential Candidates Who Shall Remain Un-named."

telesilla strongly endorses rm as both a fan and a professional writer who asks pointed questions and doesn't back down. She gives legomalfoy as her second choice as someone who is determined to make sure fandom has a voice. She singles out jameth as a known troll.

brownstudy backs rm who "is, to me, the best candidate, hands down. She's participated in tons of LJ fiascoes with grace, and I can vouch for her being super nice and patient firsthand." She also recommends that people not vote for either jameth or cambler. "The former is a wankstorm who's only running for lulz (seriously -- he's one of the main people over at ED), and the latter is pitching a (women think) sexist campaign to a primarily female userbase. Dumb, much?"

earlwyn announces to "Friends, Romans, Countrymen" that her candidate of choice is rm but the choice of fandom so far is legomymalfoy.

rusty_halo backs rm who made some of the most calm and articulate arguments against strikethrough while legomymalfoy supported LiveJournal.

spare_change strongly endorses rm as someone "who puts free speech issues foremost" and "because she is the only candidate who is a member of OTW." She expresses firm reservations about legomymalfoy candidacy here.

shirasade says she's not sure the board members will be able to truly make a difference, "but it's better than giving up, that's for sure!"

cathalin makes a rare non-fic related post to say, "I'm probably pretty middle-of-the-road when it comes to opinions about LJ. I have enough experience in the world to know some of the business and legal constraints that a business like LJ has to deal with. On the other hand, I also firmly believe that LJ should be a place where creative types have as much freedom as possible. It's pretty clear to me that having people on the Board with experience in fandom would be a good idea!"

xanphibian says if you vote for legomymalfoy, rm, or squeaky19 she "will write at least 200 words of comment porn for you. I'm keeping it small because I hope there will be a lot of takers."

calligrafiti expresses disdain for jameth and recommends a fandom candidate.

cirisse says Join the evol fangirl conspiracy. "Do you really want a troll representing you?"

channonyarrow knows someone who's worked with jameth in RL, who "does not have complimentary things to say about his skills with dealing with people."


Who am I voting against? jameth. He's had an ongoing negative campaign against other candidates, especially legomymalfoy, and has this gem of an egotistical post about the elections, or rather, himself. He's also a member in rape_an_ljer. What's that? ETA: Ah, hell. His supporters are deliberately putting "seizure moment" flashing Jameth icons in an epileptic's journal, where she says that she has epilepsy. At least one epileptic's been affected, she's had the visual effects (she's turned off graphics for now), and they've triggered migraines (which is neurologically similar). jameth has shown up in comments to banter with them and told rydra_wong it's her problem.

ETA: jameth has 1725 votes. legomymalfoy has 1553 votes. No one else is even in the ball park. And now... Jameth has 1877 votes and Legomymalfoy has 2124.

Your choice. Someone in fandom with a reasonable attitude about not pushing any particular agenda. Or someone who draws stick figures about how the smart money is on him.
