[livejournal.com profile] bookshop has given us a breakdown of the candidates positions/nonpositions on fandom here: Here. [livejournal.com profile] wistfuljane has a very organized list of resources and commentary here.

Looking for more info? Check out [livejournal.com profile] fandom_votes ([livejournal.com profile] svmadelyn explains the concept here). Also check out the candidates' platforms.

Who did I vote for?

[livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy. Specifically she is old school Star Wars and has been in HP slash fandom for years. She is also an LJ Support Team member and states explicitly "I want to start by saying that I am running to essentially be an advisor. I am not running to push a personal agenda of mine. I am not running to push fandom's agenda. I am not running to push any agenda." Here is her Platform.

Public endorsements for [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy:

[livejournal.com profile] synecdochic backs [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy: Synecdochic's statement here. [livejournal.com profile] synecdochic used to work for LJ. She has taken an intelligent middle ground on fandom unhappiness with Six Apart, and understands the qualifications needed for this role. [livejournal.com profile] synecdochic also has known [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy for many years. [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy has volunteered her time for LJ for the last five years.

[livejournal.com profile] seperis has also backed [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy based on her platform. Her comments here.

[livejournal.com profile] bookshop has backed [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy here. She points out that she's been a Fiction Alley mod (that's not an easy job) and having known her for years, describes her as "extremely, extremely fair and objective."

[livejournal.com profile] penknife knows and backs [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy "who I know to be sensible and sane" and her f-list vouches for [livejournal.com profile] rm. She explains that you don't want to vote for the same person for first, second, and third choice: "If your first-choice candidate is eliminated for having the lowest number of first-place votes at any point in the runoff process, your second and third choice votes will only count if they are for other people who have not yet been eliminated."

[livejournal.com profile] wikdsushi backs [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy, followed by [livejournal.com profile] vichan and [livejournal.com profile] rm, and urges us not to split the fandom vote. "With [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy we've got a damned good chance of getting someone with a pro-fandom stance on the LJ Advisory Board as long as we heed the fable of Mrs. McNally's Fourth Grade Class."

[livejournal.com profile] cesperanza backs [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy, [livejournal.com profile] rm, and [livejournal.com profile] vichan as "solid fandom candidates" here.

[livejournal.com profile] midnitemaraud_r backs [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy with [livejournal.com profile] rm as her second choice. She didn't back [livejournal.com profile] squeaky19 because she feels his ownership of InsaneJournal is a conflict of interest. Here.

[livejournal.com profile] frek backs [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy here, and says that [livejournal.com profile] jameth is "particularly anti-fandom. Not someone we need representing us."

[livejournal.com profile] entrenous88 backs [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy "hands down -- fan-friendly, has specific ideas about improvements and demonstrates commitment to representing the users' concerns."

[livejournal.com profile] ifreet backs [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy "based on the reasons presented by Bethbethbeth here, Cesperanza hier, Bookshop koko, Synecdochic aqui and Malnpudl ici."

[livejournal.com profile] darththalia has posted in support of [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy and against [livejournal.com profile] jameth "I'd like to ignore the whole thing, but I'd really prefer not to see an asshat elected."

[livejournal.com profile] jinxed_wood says she doesn't really care about the election but has voted for [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy and against [livejournal.com profile] jameth, saying "I'm not going to vote for someone who goes out of their way to say they don't, and won't, represent my interests."

[livejournal.com profile] furiosity endorses [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy, stating that she "can't see anyone more qualified than Jen to occupy an Advisory Board position. She's been involved in many aspects of LJ for many years, and that doesn't just include being a content contributor or paid user -- she's served both as a support volunteer and a member of the Abuse Prevention team." Her second and third choices are [livejournal.com profile] vichan and [livejournal.com profile] rm respectively.

[livejournal.com profile] nicocoer backs [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy, [livejournal.com profile] rm, and [livejournal.com profile] vichan, in that order. She also has a series of election links.

[livejournal.com profile] violet_quill backs [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy: "I highly support her in this matter, because A) she's actually qualified, and B) she has fandom interests in mind." She supports [livejournal.com profile] vichan as a good second choice.

[livejournal.com profile] sage_theory backs [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy because she is the one who can, if we pile all the votes there, defeat [livejournal.com profile] jameth. And that yes, [livejournal.com profile] jameth's people have been putting flashing icons in journals of those who have epilepsy, knowing they have epilepsy.

[livejournal.com profile] jamethiel_bane backs [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy, followed by [livejournal.com profile] rm here.

[livejournal.com profile] malnpudl backs [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy here, based on her support from former LJ employee, [livejournal.com profile] synecdochic, a fandom stalwart.

[livejournal.com profile] kerrikins has posted in favor of [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy here.

[livejournal.com profile] frogspace (please correct me if I get it wrong, my German is shaky at best) tells us that [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy has the best chance. In comments she wipes tears of laughter out of her eyes at claims that [livejournal.com profile] jameth is objective. Wenn Fandom wählt.

[livejournal.com profile] lian_li feels that [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy has the best chance to win, and that even non-fans should vote against a known troll. Here. She directs people to [livejournal.com profile] fandom_votes.

[livejournal.com profile] meresy backs [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy first and [livejournal.com profile] rm second, as opposed to [livejournal.com profile] jameth. "Fangirls seem to agree he's sketch."

[livejournal.com profile] anitabuchan backs [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy who "has been an active member of fandom for years and was quite generally convincing that she'd be a good candidate."

[livejournal.com profile] caras_galadhon backs [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy, [livejournal.com profile] rm and [livejournal.com profile] vichan, and has withdrawn her support for [livejournal.com profile] randomposting. She says that if [livejournal.com profile] jameth wins "if you thought the Board was a joke before (like, say, when LJ ignored it right out of the gate), then this will seal its fate. Given that Lawrence Lessig, author of Free Culture is already on the Board, it strikes me as pretty damn insulting to let a guy who thinks it's funny to campaign with icons that could trigger epileptic seizures sit on the same Board as someone deeply involved in the Creative Commons movement."

[livejournal.com profile] karinberry has taken the time to read all the candidate platforms. She says that the point is to pick the candidate best for the job and not just the candidate best for fandom. "I urge you all, again, to read through what the candidates have to say. I changed my mind as I went through the platform posts, and ultimately settled on my original first choice with different second and third choices." She selects [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy for 1st, [livejournal.com profile] rm for 2nd, and [livejournal.com profile] vichan. She has come out against [livejournal.com profile] jameth: "He's done nothing but actively speak out against the other candidates, which is exactly what I hate about Some Presidential Candidates Who Shall Remain Un-named."

[livejournal.com profile] sorion backs [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy, [livejournal.com profile] rm, and [livejournal.com profile] squeaky19 here.

[livejournal.com profile] runpunkrun backs [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy for 1st, [livejournal.com profile] rm for 2nd, and [livejournal.com profile] lordandrei for 3rd, here.

[livejournal.com profile] nnaylime backs [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy and says, "Having worked with her on the LJ Abuse team, I can tell you that I personally know her to be a very conscientious, level-headed person, who really cares about LJ and the users."

Public endorsements of RM:

[livejournal.com profile] telesilla strongly endorses [livejournal.com profile] rm as both a fan and a professional writer who asks pointed questions and doesn't back down. She gives [livejournal.com profile] legomalfoy as her second choice as someone who is determined to make sure fandom has a voice. She singles out [livejournal.com profile] jameth as a known troll.

[livejournal.com profile] brownstudy backs [livejournal.com profile] rm who "is, to me, the best candidate, hands down. She's participated in tons of LJ fiascoes with grace, and I can vouch for her being super nice and patient firsthand." She also recommends that people not vote for either [livejournal.com profile] jameth or [livejournal.com profile] cambler. "The former is a wankstorm who's only running for lulz (seriously -- he's one of the main people over at ED), and the latter is pitching a (women think) sexist campaign to a primarily female userbase. Dumb, much?"

[livejournal.com profile] earlwyn announces to "Friends, Romans, Countrymen" that her candidate of choice is [livejournal.com profile] rm but the choice of fandom so far is [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy.

[livejournal.com profile] rusty_halo backs [livejournal.com profile] rm who made some of the most calm and articulate arguments against strikethrough while [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy supported LiveJournal.

[livejournal.com profile] spare_change strongly endorses [livejournal.com profile] rm as someone "who puts free speech issues foremost" and "because she is the only candidate who is a member of OTW." She expresses firm reservations about [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy candidacy here.

Public endorsements for Squeaky:

[livejournal.com profile] ptyx voted for [livejournal.com profile] squeaky19 for 1st, [livejournal.com profile] rm for 2nd, and [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy for 3rd. Here.

[livejournal.com profile] titti backs [livejournal.com profile] squeaky19, whom she feels is the best person to act as a watchdog since he has a vested financial interest: here

General statements of support for a fandom candidate:

[livejournal.com profile] copracat does not pick a specific candidate, but suggests [livejournal.com profile] rm, [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy, and [livejournal.com profile] vichan as fandom-supportive candidates here.

[livejournal.com profile] scribblinlenore comments and directs everyone to [livejournal.com profile] fandom_votes.

[livejournal.com profile] sasha_davidovna has a series of links on the election here.

[livejournal.com profile] ubixtiz says "For the record, rm and legomymalfoy seem to be into fandom and communication, and squeaky19 has an interest in transparency."

[livejournal.com profile] dragonfly_lily supports [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy and [livejournal.com profile] vichan here.

[livejournal.com profile] marainsanity pimps [livejournal.com profile] fandom_votes here.

[livejournal.com profile] boniblithe expresses hope we can make something useful out of the mess of last year and encourages people to check out [livejournal.com profile] fandom_votes: here.

[livejournal.com profile] tkp says we want someone in fandom to win, "and for someone in fandom to win, fandom as a unit will probably have to vote for the same person, or we'll be all splintered. In general, I'm uncomfortable voting under a "ticket". But it might be the only way to get someone in fandom in, and someone in fandom is better than no one in fandom."

[livejournal.com profile] semby reiterates [livejournal.com profile] tkp's post.

[livejournal.com profile] shirasade says she's not sure the board members will be able to truly make a difference, "but it's better than giving up, that's for sure!"

[livejournal.com profile] cathalin makes a rare non-fic related post to say, "I'm probably pretty middle-of-the-road when it comes to opinions about LJ. I have enough experience in the world to know some of the business and legal constraints that a business like LJ has to deal with. On the other hand, I also firmly believe that LJ should be a place where creative types have as much freedom as possible. It's pretty clear to me that having people on the Board with experience in fandom would be a good idea!"

[livejournal.com profile] xanphibian says if you vote for [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy, [livejournal.com profile] rm, or [livejournal.com profile] squeaky19 she "will write at least 200 words of comment porn for you. I'm keeping it small because I hope there will be a lot of takers."

Public statements against [livejournal.com profile] jameth's anti-fandom stance:

[livejournal.com profile] bethbethbeth tracks the progress of the race here, with more details about [livejournal.com profile] jameth's anti-fandom stance.

[livejournal.com profile] rydra_wong has comments here about [livejournal.com profile] jameth.

[livejournal.com profile] calligrafiti expresses disdain for [livejournal.com profile] jameth and recommends a fandom candidate.

[livejournal.com profile] cirisse says Join the evol fangirl conspiracy. "Do you really want a troll representing you?"

[livejournal.com profile] channonyarrow knows someone who's worked with [livejournal.com profile] jameth in RL, who "does not have complimentary things to say about his skills with dealing with people."

Who am I voting against? [livejournal.com profile] jameth. He's had an ongoing negative campaign against other candidates, especially [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy, and has this gem of an egotistical post about the elections, or rather, himself. He's also a member in [livejournal.com profile] rape_an_ljer. What's that? ETA: Ah, hell. His supporters are deliberately putting "seizure moment" flashing Jameth icons in an epileptic's journal, where she says that she has epilepsy. At least one epileptic's been affected, she's had the visual effects (she's turned off graphics for now), and they've triggered migraines (which is neurologically similar). [livejournal.com profile] jameth has shown up in comments to banter with them and told [livejournal.com profile] rydra_wong it's her problem.

ETA: [livejournal.com profile] jameth has 1725 votes. [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy has 1553 votes. No one else is even in the ball park. And now... Jameth has 1877 votes and Legomymalfoy has 2124.

Your choice. Someone in fandom with a reasonable attitude about not pushing any particular agenda. Or someone who draws stick figures about how the smart money is on him.
