He was embarrassed reading the sex aloud and so I think was rushing to get through it. It's going to be difficult to convince him to read any slash that's explicit from here on out. In fact he said that he doesn't want to read any more sex stories aloud because it was uncomfortable for him.

When we discovered the popping, well, he wasn't willing to re-read "Shy Guy."

I'm hoping people will like hearing him enough that he'll loosen up about this -- he certainly likes reading my slash stories for himself. Thus far though, I don't think the response is positive enough for that to happen. So, this is what we get I guess.

The mic was not at fault, it's just not very sensitive and I found I had to hold it fairly close when I recorded "The Other Man" and "First Signs of Magic: Hermione Granger." However, when WG held it the same way, he breathed on it a bit too much and we got the popping noise.

Oh yes, WG is so California. I'm hoping to get at least Cursed Artefacts For Sale out of him. ;) The real question is how do I upload via dial-up a file that large? It took nearly three hours to upload this short story.

Yep. WG was so pleased with people's comments here that he volunteered (I didn't even suggest it!) to re-record Shy Guy without the mic noise. Ha. Although he's afraid he'll do worse so insists, "but save that first file."

What's a bit unnerving is his breathing. Too close to the mic maybe?

Somehow it made me think of someone reading the news report or anything... *lol* Speaking a bit slower would definitely be better.
And some more accentuations, please? A bit more mood-like if you catch my drift.
If I hadn't read the fic while listening I sometimes wouldn't have noticed one sentence ending and the other begin.

But for a test-run it was really nice. Something different from just reading fics...
Am looking forward to the next run.

I've suggested that he read it slower. He was speaking a little faster than his normal speed anyway. As for the accentuations, well, we might not get that. He's just a regular guy, not an actor. ;)

It was a little choppy... Not just sound, but the way it sounded? Halting and such. I can completely understand why though.

I do hope he reads something he's more comfortable with soon. And slows down a bit so he gets the words right. I make the same mistakes when I read outloud. I could never be one of those books-on-tape persons. *blink* ^_^

Yeah, I had to pull down all the NC-17 fic off my site to avoid having it used in an online battle against me by someone outside fandom. I believe it's on An Archive Of Our Own, but it's locked. Do you have an account there?
