Do I have to wait until the end of the voting in [livejournal.com profile] mcshep_match to post recs? Because some of those recs may appear to be disloyal to my team. *g* I'm wishing that I'd been saving the links to the super-hot [livejournal.com profile] kink_bingo fics.

I went to a gem show yesterday. Didn't get to spend nearly as much time as I would've liked. (Beads, oh lovely beads, how it hurt to skip your tables....)

Playing around with those little ring-sizer-loopy-thingies they have, I learned why I never buy rings. Dear god, I wear a two.

Do you know how small that is?

A two is so small, the jeweler on the other side of the counter refused to believe me until I showed him by sliding the loop on in front of him. He blinked.
A two is so small, it's the last, tiniest loop they have.
A two is so small, certain styles can't be worn because the gems will pop off at that angle.
A two is so small, it makes ordinary gems look like massive rocks.
A two is so small, you can't fit a dime in it.
A two is so small, it is three full sizes smaller than the smallest rings they offer in catalogs.
A two is so small, you can't just have a ring re-sized. It must be custom made.

Okaaaay. So I'm going to stick with buying earrings. Those at least are one-size-fits-all.

Given the size of your feet, this comes as no surprise.

But still... dang.

I don't feel too bad then. My ring fingers are a 5 and dealers keep thinking I'm buying a toe ring or something, not something for my hands.

Actually they do make rings that small. But for children, so they'd probably not be what you'd like to wear.

I actually tend to the other side, but not anywhere in an unsual range (I think). (Other than my thumbs, I have weard thumbs, and big toes)

My biggest problem with rings is that I'm teriified of them getting stuck. If a ring doesn't come off immeadiately you can see me running for the next water source. Also I play with rings (on off on off ...) I also can't stand rings that push my fingers apart. The end result is that I (almost) never wear any.

You know? I find this strangely comforting. I wear size 5 shoes and a size 4 ring. I thought I was the one who had the most trouble finding ohmygodicantlivewithoutit things. Clearly? Not so much! Thanks!

Welcome to the non-existent size club. For me it's shoes. I wear a 9 1/2 narrow. Try to find *that* in a shoe store in something that doesn't look ugly or tranny.

You think that's bad? My right foot is 8 1/2 and my left is 9 1/2 narrow, an arch a half size bigger than the foot it's attached to, and wedge shaped with narrow heels. I can't wear anything but practical shoes, because the always have enough padding and give that I can get away with a simple 9. Otherwise, I'd have to buy two pairs of any given shoe. One for each foot.

Wow, that sucks a *lot*. You may want to take a look at Nordstrom's - at least for some shoes, if your feet are different enough in size they'll split up a pair of shoes so you can actually have two shoes that fit. They're on the expensive side, but tend to sell good quality and have great service. For whatever that's worth, if you haven't tried them.

You have my sympathy. I swear ready-to-wear clothing is a tool of the devil to drive us all nuts. *longs for the days when all clothing was custom made*

I can top that - 11 narrow plus high arches. I would get "Oh, of course we carry 11s!" and 9 times out of 10 they would come out with 11 mediums or wides.

I shop online these days.

Yeah, those would be tough to find too. But my sister has us both beat. She wears 13 wides. She gave up and just wears men's shoes.

Three and a half here. I can never buy over the counter rings.
