I think this isn't a 2007 phenomenon, perhaps. More like an ongoing sub-sub-sub genre.

The comments following are far longer than the snippet-fic itself -- I tried to hint more than describe in this instance. The gist is that Rodney has been hurt and is permanently mentally disabled from the injuries. This deals with the fallout of his husband trying to cope with his own prejudices and beliefs about being a caregiver.

Got it! Had the author's name wrong, couldn't remember the title, but here it is and yes, it is listed as a 2007 post.

This does not consist of a rec, because disability fics are not favorites of mine. I'll kill characters, but I seldom maim them permanently. I don't even like them to get old. OTOH, I didn't back out of the story either and do remember it, so it's appled and oranges. YMMV.

Blindsided from sgamadison, it is with john being blinded. This would be a rec for me, since I really loved this fic, and loved how the other members of the team are portrayed in this. I am reccing this since in an above comment you said you were fine with john disability fic too.
