There goes my bank.

Let's have Sarah Palin explain the current economic situation and the bailout plan:

Well, Sarah Palin clearly has a handle on the situation. I feel so much better now. And I believe it'll all be okay.

No... it isn't even fun to be sarcastic about this stuff anymore. I think I'm gonna throw up.

It's all straightened out now.

Huh? I'm used to politicians talking and talking and not coming to the point of the actual question, but I think she's way and beyond that. Did she even understand the point of the question?

I think the GOP is telling her what to say, and it isn't what she really thinks--and then there's a collision when she's under pressure.

That feels relatively right. It shows that she's basically a small-town politician suddenly cast into the big politics without really knowing what's going on and on what she all should have opinions or not.

In a way I feel sorry for her, but I also think she should realize (or someone else should) that she's way out of her depth and step back.

Women in politics: Yes, but not like this. While I don't think very highly of Condooleeza Rice I can still accept that she knows what she's talking about and how to act and deal with diverse situations and people.

She thinks???

*awe*

sorry for the sarcasm - I have taken to calling her Caribou Barbie - which is confusing a lot of people in the UK. But seriously - it is not just being underqualified - it is being so PROUD of it that makes me worry.

Have I told you my theory that Obama is perfect for this moment because he actually has some exposure to Islam, is a man (sorry but in my anecdotal experiance no Muslim leader has real respect for female politicians), and somehow manages to make people motivate themselves? I'd rather have someone who understands how the bloke opposite of him thinks, what his priorities are, then someone who has no frame of reference other than small town politics and PTA. Oh and seeing Russia (which, if my geography is correct, would only happen if the world were flat and the atmosphere did not exist?)

She's not stupid. She's just a small town politician from a state that's very undeveloped with a low population. The kinds of issues she's used to dealing with is opening a post office, paving gravel roads, and getting her best friend's brother-in-law elected dogcatcher.

My dad works on the computing infrastructure for most of the national and international banks (guess how often he's been home in the last month or so!) and he said that WaMu customers probably won't notice much of a change in their banking, since JPMorgan took part in the buyout in addition to the FDIC. Unless you have stock in WaMu as well... then I'd bury your head in the sand today.

As to Ms. Palin... at this point I just feel sorry for the woman for getting into this mess in the first place.

I do, too. She's obviously not ready for this kind of media spotlight.

I figured that since I (definitely) have less than $100,000 in the bank, I shouldn't worry. But I was hoping Wells Fargo would buy it. I had an account with Chase Bank when I was 20 and they were nasty to me. Treated me like they really didn't want my business. I do not want another taste of their customer service.

Yeah, I'm a victim of Whoo Hoo!, also. :) Have both my business and personal account there. But, we've been told we won't notice a thing, and sadly I have less than the insured amounts in there, as well, so I guess I can just be happy we won't see any more of those dumb commercials. :)
I just hope that with th buyout, they stay a somewhat no-frills bank. But truthfully, with my business side, I'd pay a few extra fees just to get some policies changed. I don't know if you've ever had anything negative happen with your account, but when I have it is such a pain in the ass to get fixed! Their default-action is to freeze your account, in whatever way necessary. *Then* straighten it out. *facepalm*

WG did some research and JPMorgan is the pits. He mentioned that among other things, they're number one on the list of companies that invest in things that pollute the environment.

I'm pulling my savings out. Wells Fargo, here we come.

Lovely. Well, there really aren't any Wells Fargo branches around here. And since I have to drive to the bank and do deposits and such for the business, it was so great having the Wamu branch literally down the street! It was a half-hour *walking*. Seriously, pop in the car, I'm there. But there are several other banks within throwing distance of that one. (BofA included, *spit*) Banco Popular seems to want me. But I don't know anything about them.

WG did more research, and JPMorgan has been involved in a lot of scandals, too.

Holy shit. I--I hadn't seen any of this, and I knew it was bad, but not THAT bad. (Her ability to answer questions!)

For her sake, I hope this is an isolated mid-interview meltdown. But word's getting around that the campaign staff has called her 'clueless' (http://www.wegoted.com/) and they don't know what to do about the debates.

She's completely disgusted, and appalled. There is no way to turn that into a good interview, or even unpack it.

Crap. I hope none of this affects your financial situation.

I do wish people would stop electing folks they're comfortable with and wouldn't mind sharin' a beer with and start electing men and women who are very well educated and just plain smart. It's freakish how intelligent people have to hide how smart they are so as not to spook the straights who won't otherwise vote for them. And you'd think people would be insulted by politicians who are proud of being stupid in an attempt at camaraderie. "See? I'm just like you, a clueless dummie!"
