Theft of homes. Grrrr.
Sep. 29th, 2003 10:31 pmWatched a 60 Minutes story on how laws meant to allow private property to be used for highways, schools and so forth are being used to force elderly people off 'Prime Real Estate' for developers. Justification: the developers will bring in more tax money.
Wow. Wonder what those City Council agendas look like?

I just watched a 60 Minutes story on the misuse of imminent domain laws to take private homes for profit. I'm mystified. Just what do your City Council meeting agendas look like?
9:00 - 9:15 Read and accept Minutes
9:15 - 9:30 Motion on definition of 'blighted' candy: has been slobbered on, or masticated by baby.
9:30 - 10:00 Take candy from baby
10:00 - 10:15 Break (distribute candy)
10:15 - 10:30 Motion on definition of 'improper use of apples': have been used in conjunction with sugar and cinnamon.
10:30 - 11:15 Steal 'improper' apple pies from elderly widows
11:15 - 11:30 Motion on definition of donated orphans' toys as 'blighted': show signs of use in play.
11:30 - 12:00 Redistribute 'blighted' toys (council members with children are asked to give ages)
12:00 - 1:15 Lunch (Apple pie for dessert!)
1:15 - 2:30 Motivational Speaker: Mr. Grinch. Topic -- 'You Can Have It, If You Really Want'
2:30 - 2:45 Break (distribute 'Santa sacks', can't start too soon on those holidays!)
2:45 - 4:00 Presentation on Due Process & Interpretation of Property Law -- John Gotti Consulting
4:00 - 4:15 Motion on definition of blighted area: attractive homes in appealing neighborhood, housing (normally) 'easily-pushed-around' elderly retirees
4:15 Adjourn.
Blue Beard Real Estate asks that you be sure to pick up your sacks of gold doubloons on the way out, and thank you!
