The "ow" report, brought to you by the letter "Oh."
Hel-lo, doctors' appointments.
WG and I were supposed to see his family and then go whitewater rafting this weekend. Unfortunately he's had an ear ache since Sunday and it's persisted. Oh no. We went to the doctor yesterday and he's getting treatment, and has a follow-up appointment tomorrow. But ear ache + white water = bad idea, so we decided to cancel our trip, to the tune of $150 in fees to change our tickets. Ow.
Today I went to ze dentist to fix a filling that came out. It's almost under the gumline and the dentist started throwing around scary words like "root canal." Uh-oh. We're going to see what happens in the next six weeks. Next week: I get my wisdom teeth out.

Date: 2008-09-04 12:25 am (UTC)I was scared to have my wisdom teeth out, but it actually turned out to be kinda fun. they were impacted, so I got local anesthetic as well as a general anesthetic. Had then best sleep EVER!!! and woke up to being kinda sleepy, thirsty, needing to potty (whee! IV), and numb. *L* They made me take toradol before the freezing came out, so I never hurt from it at all. And I was talking for a living, so dentist gave me a week off work. very cool.
hints? potty before and after! bring ice packs for the trip home and a bottle of water or two. Use the ice Right Away! even if you can't feel that you need it. I did the ice thing and ended up with only a single bruise, very light colour, about the size and position for a thumbprint... Jello and baby food (without seeds!) are yummy.

Date: 2008-09-06 06:23 am (UTC)is your dentist sending you to a specialist, or is he well practiced at it himself? My dentist sent me to a specialist because of the general anes. It cost a bit more than if I'd chose the other option (local hospital) - but looking back I think it was worth it.
Honestly... if someone was to give me the option of speaking at a company function, or doing the surgery thing again... I'd honestly take the surgery. I wish I'd known ahead so I wouldnt have been so nervy for it to be over! (I know, easy for me to say... with any luck, you'll understand soon *S*)

Date: 2008-09-04 10:22 am (UTC)Poor WG - having had some atrocious ear infections and they are never any good. Best to get it sorted and not have to suffer repeatedly for the next few months with it refusing to budge no matter what he does.
Hope you need not to have a root canal. If there is one thing I've been blessed with it is good (if not precisely gorgeous) teeth.
