Eagerly seeking Dreamwidth....
Apr. 14th, 2009 11:44 amInvite codes to Dreamwidth... I just learned that (shockingly)
auburnnothenna is looking for one. Auburn has a name that, like Icarus, gets grabbed pretty quickly.
If anyone has a spare invite code and no one to give it to (
lurksnomore was generous enough to give a code to
roaringmice on my behalf) I have two friends,
elizabeth_rice and the illustrious
auburnnothenna, who are looking for one.
I must say, I am so pleased to see how eager people are to join Dreamwidth.

Confirmed. Auburn has a DW invite.
Thank you, that's very generous of you.

Date: 2009-04-14 07:45 pm (UTC)I think the eagerness has more to do with not wanting to miss out on something than "oh yeah, another place to post stuff". For me, I'll join simply because a majority of the writers I like and some of the comms I'm on are going there and I'd kinda like to be in the loop. *g*
After that lackluster paragraph, I do hope to get a code if ya'll have one to spare?
Off to bed, maybe I can sleep this damn cold out.

Date: 2009-04-14 09:07 pm (UTC)Be sure to create an OpenID account if you haven't already. My understanding is that all the existing OpenID accounts will be sent an invite code when the open beta begins at the end of the month.

Date: 2009-04-14 08:55 pm (UTC)I can try, but no promises.
I think we're all going to get more invite codes come April 30th. In the meantime, set up a OpenID account there. I believe the OpenID people will be given invite codes once the beta testing ends this month.

Date: 2009-04-15 03:52 pm (UTC)They made changes to the code, are using a slow growth model and paid accounts to pay for it, and have very fandom-friendly policies.
There are posts about it somewhere around here but it'll have to wait. I have class shortly and I'm scrambling to get my homework done.

Date: 2009-04-15 06:23 pm (UTC)so the goal is to improve livejournal without being part of the programming crew any more. But if they are former LJ people, how can they change the code? Or is this going to be a new and improved LJ?

Date: 2009-04-16 01:36 am (UTC)They can change the code because LJ freely provides its code for anyone to copy (change, add to, etc.).
In theory it is going to be a new and improved LJ.
