Hung out with wolfshark yesterday. In RL she's a solid, reliable sort with a healthy dose of sardonic humor. Just the type of person you'd want to run comms and see projects through to the end. *tips hat to Sharkie*

And I've now been informed that Victoria Bitter of "Bit Of Earth" donation scam infamy (who absconded with tens of thousands of dollars and tricked Sean Astin into supporting the not-actually-a-charity) has joined the HP fandom. Bitter is refusing all donations -- unless you insist. In which case there's a PayPal link.

OOooooohhh! The Victoria Bitter thing makes someone else's post so much less cryptic. I had no idea that there were still new people joining Harry Potter fandom. Cool.

That part is cool. It's good to see fandoms flourish past the end of canon. :)

I started in the LOTR meta fandom (barrowdowns.com) then wrote really boring Frodo/Sam slash. I was so pleased when I was asked if they could have my Frodo/Sam on the old Bit 'O Earth site.

Years later I discovered the Bit Of Earth donation scam. That's one thing I really hate, is people taking advantage of others' generosity. It kills off the generosity in the future.

I was very bitter at her because I was trying to organize a non-Creation convention, but I kept running into people who were too leery of amateur cons and pointed to VB as an example.

I'm sorry that happened. We can always use more conventions (with fewer cons).

You know Bitter is almost worth the opportunity for puns....

Argh - I fixed one pronoun and missed the other. I used to be better at minding all of my language to be gender neutral, but I've fallen out of habit the last couple years.

I'm sure the puns have been done to death before. :)
