I'm so sick of this. The American people did not vote Bush into power. He lost the popular election.

Yes. That means more Americans voted against him than for him.

What the fuck is he doing in the Oval office then?

He nickle-and-dimed the Electoral College and won their votes. It works like this:

California ~ population, one gazillion.
Number of electoral college votes: a handful.

North Dakota ~ population, we're not sure anyone lives there.
Number of electoral college votes: half a handful.

Nebraska ~ population, two elderly ladies.
Number of electoral college votes: half a handful.

Therefore, by courting this outbacks, Georgie-boy managed to nickle-and-dime his way into the White House.

Yes, Bush was voted into power by two elderly ladies in Nebraska (who remember Abraham Lincoln as a fine President) and a lost Canadian who accidentally slipped over the border from Saskatchewan into unpopulated Northern Midwest.

I'm being sarcastic here, but that is in fact how he won. That's how our Electoral College system 'works.'

For when you get sick of the news coverage, bought and paid for: the Onion.

Just one question, how do these US News Anchors keep a straight face when they call the US forces a 'Coalition'? Do they have to practice in the mirror beforehand?

"The Coalition forces.. heeheh ... sorry, I've almost got it..."

Unfortunately, one of the main points of going to war now is Bush is up for re-election next year. He's accomplished nothing, the economy's shit which makes even the conservatives unhappy, he blew our budget surplus in less than a year(!) and put the country deeply in the red.

His only chance at winning next year is standing on a pile of bodies. What we need is a very strong Democratic candidate. Bush is so much worse than I ever imagined (though I still strongly suspect Dick Cheney is the one really pulling the strings), I'd vote for Fidel Castro if he put himself up for election.

At least one current poll has Bush running several points behind Unnamed Democrat.

That's good. Now, if only we can find an actual Democrat who's as well liked as a theoretical one.
