I got JKR for all my HP fic, even though my style is very different to hers, so I think it might have been picking up on HP-specific terms as well.

It's not emphasizing at syntax (which a real analysis should). The syntax structure of my Snape-fic is very different from my Ron-fic but both are coming out JKR.

Yeah, and even maybe names, too? If it's just comparing it against the text, it may see a bunch of Harry and Ron and Snape and be like "oh, you write like JKR!" I'm sure it's not expecting fanfic, after all, and it's likely not very smart.

If I were looking for a JKR style, I'd look for simple, highly parallel sentence structures, a preponderance of adverbs, reliance on simple past tense, (usually) strict third person limited, more than the usual number of exclamation points, and not too many marked words.

Me neither. I figured the meme to be bullshit, since they all are. But this takes bullshit into bad territory.

I mostly pull Dan Brown, which irked me. Even on stuff that's heavily cowritten, though my cowriter never got him once.

However a DC comics piece got Isaac Asimov. That bizarre POV exercise with Picard form ST:TNG got Nabokov. And something...forgot which, got me Stephen King.

GF says the Dan Brown has something to do with my uses of tense, but I'm not sure what she meant.
